Virtual Workplace: Out of the Office Reply and Listening Skills: Yeah Whatever Video

When we talk about effective communication, we need to make sure that the message sent has the same meaning to the person or people who received it. To elaborate more in that subject we are going to discuss the communication in two different videos. In the first two videos is a meeting between Pilar and Miguel. The communication between them was not effective. Pilar is the manager of a campaign company and Miguel is the artist in charge of the campaign for a client. The client was satisfied of the outcome, but not in the way, Miguel used the budget. When Miguel went to the meeting, he was distracted and so confident that he did such a great job that he did not realize that the meeting was to let him know that the client was not happy about him going over the budget projected for the campaign and she would like to see his spending weekly. He was upset; because he did not see anything wrong going over budget as long the campaign was successful. On their second meeting, we can see a big change on Miguel’s behalf. First, he was worried because he lost his campaign. Second, he was trying to find out why he lost it and how he could regain it back. After finding out that, he lost his account, he finally returned to Earth. Pilar told him that she advised him on their last meeting to follow up with her, but he did not listen. This time the communication was better. He was not distracted and was very concern in what he had to do in order to get the account back. The other two videos are about Angela who was an employee that is working from home and her manager that was trying to find out why Angela missed the deadline in a project.
