Communicator for Greatness in the Workplace Effective communication is a two-way information sharing process which involves one party sending a message that is easily understood by the receiving party. Effective communication by business managers facilitates information sharing between company employees and can substantially contribute to its commercial success (www.businessdictionary.com)
My job in a physician’s office requires effective communication. I contribute to effective communication in meetings, seminars, and webinars for the business. Part of effective communication includes perception. Perception in communication determines how one will communicate and how they will receive information from another person. Once a week all employees, manager, and physicians have a weekly meeting for about an hour. The meeting consists of ideas for making the clinic run more smoothly, concerns that need to be addressed, goals to be accomplished, and other topics are routinely discussed. During the meeting, I use assertive communication. Assertive communication means you stand-up for your needs, wants, and opinions in a respectful and clear manner. (2014 Life123, Inc.). I speak for myself and try to involve others with my ideas. Along with representatives from other clinics that provide service to a pediatric patient, I was able to attend an immunization seminar offered by the organization. During the seminar there is one effective communication skill that I often practice, which is successful listening. Successful listening is understanding what the speaker is saying and understanding the information that is being given. Expressing my ideas, opinions, and concerns during a seminar along with other representatives from other clinics help to solve problems, initiate ideas, and prepare plans that make a difference. In
