Monologue Of William Blaine
William Blaine grew up as any normal boy with clean clothes, loving parents, and annoying siblings. Yet, at the prime age of nineteen, the nation, of which he lived in, began to crumble under his feet. America’s deep desperation had fallen into what we now call the Great Depression. America fought in World War One, but once it was over, the supply-demand fell through the floor. The Blaine family had been preparing for this day, but had wished it never came. Pent-up anger grew within the citizens of Ames, Iowa. Impatience increased towards Herbert Hoover, the current president, and enmity directed at the vicious stockbrokers who wasted all of their American money. Summer of 1934 scorched the feral fields of southern Iowa. They refused to …show more content…
Blaine sat peacefully on the porch, swaying in her beloved rocking chair. With great urgency, William walked outside to his mom, leaving the door open behind him.
“Mom, Thomas has nowhere to go. If we leave him, he will starve just like his parents. He and I are old enough to work. Mom, please let him stay. We’ve been friends with the Orwells over twenty years.” William pleaded with desperation and a mournful tone.

In the small, peaceful village of Rhinebeck, where tourists and travelers from all over the country venture through, a wooden cottage stood just off of Main Street. Within the cottage lay a middle aged man by the name of John Edelman. His short, scruffy beard had begun to remodel itself into a plain of grey, and his once youthful olive skin had turned pale with creases around his eyes and mouth. Most villagers, if asked about John, would have nothing but positive remarks. Kind, quiet, and caring, he often engaged in projects to improve the community, and had come to the aid of many friends.…

It was a cold winter day in the town of Budville. The sky was a leaden grey, heavy with snow. The ground was blanketed in a thick layer of frost, sparkling like countless diamonds under the dim light of the morning sun. Maria, a young girl of ten or eleven, trudged through the snow, her breath forming tiny white clouds in front of her face. She wore a thick fur coat and mittens, her scarf wrapped tightly around her neck to protect her from the bitter cold.…

As I began my journey to the vast history of Indigenous people flicking page after page and over what felt like a lifetime I was persuaded to embed the words exchanged between William and the Gadigal tribe particularly with a young girl named patyegarang within the novel. And also to construct the scenarios, the events in which they take place. To create a story line that was able to connect all of these was a tremendously difficult hour and hours rifling through these pages learning more about the native s of this land it was truly remarkable. In my early stages of writing I came across an obstacle I wondered what the protagonist’s character will be like.…
