Monologue From The Broken Grotesque
THE BROKEN GROTESQUE Broken grotesque, sitting on the ancient roof our great lady's cathedral, made only out of stone. You were meant to last for eternity, but the wind and rain has slowly chipped away your wings and horns. You have been around longer than any of us. You have seen kings, queens, and popes come and go; glorious revolutions, bathed in passion and blood, till they have fizzled out and lie down in the gutter to die, like an old dog. You have lips, but no voice behind them. If you had a voice to speak, I would insist you tell me all your stories, spout all you wisdom, so I could collect them into a book for all time. I would ask you a billion questions, not one of them satisfying my hunger for your thoughts. I would live each

Days and nights would pass by with Barbara unable to spot any difference in between. The routine had been formed; she’d wake up, go to work, visit the elderly house, return home to sleep. Repeat. Barbara at the age of 30 was worn out and exhausted. Her mother’s death had scarred her deeply, her children hated her and her husband had left her for some woman he had found at some bar.…

RIP Chloe Henry. I didn't really know her that much. We used to go to school together and even though we were both really young I remember your kindnes. All I hear people say about you is how much you cared about everyone and how nice and sweet you were. It's not fair to anyone to have to go through what happened to you. And it's not fair for any parents to have their child pass away. It's not fair how young you were and how many things you never had a chance to do. When I found out about this it made me feel absolutely terrible and I still do whenever I think about this injustice. We all love you and pray for you. You did nothing to deserve this. It makes me so fucking pissed off this happened I don’t understand how this coud be done. We all…

Step by wicked step, my boots sank further and further into the thick, red-tinged land as if the devil himself were dragging my body straight into the depths of hell. The rhythmic squelching stabbed through my rubber soles, radiating pain throughout my soul as it seared everything in its path. Squelch, squelch, squish. My tempo was interrupted by those cursed boots refusing to budge from the stubborn terrain. As if taunting me, the earth unhooked my feet from the damned soil…

You are running in the forest. After running past a couple more trees, you turn around. There is nobody. But you know, there is. How it All Began... As I walk through the half abolished bleak, gray building my footsteps echo all around me removing the hope that I might ever encounter another survivor. My body begins to tremble as I look at my hand starting to twitch, tapping lightly against my leg, the seizures have been getting more frequent as they are, unfortunately, one of the side effects of the first stages of the plague. I see a flash of movement out of the corner of my eye and turn to the side suddenly. "…
