William Dawes Monologue
As I began my journey to the vast history of Indigenous people flicking page after page and over what felt like a lifetime I was persuaded to embed the words exchanged between William and the Gadigal tribe particularly with a young girl named patyegarang within the novel. And also to construct the scenarios, the events in which they take place. To create a story line that was able to connect all of these was a tremendously difficult hour and hours rifling through these pages learning more about the native s of this land it was truly remarkable. In my early stages of writing I came across an obstacle I wondered what the protagonist’s character will be like. I wanted the protagonist of my novel to have a different outlook. I wanted him to be …show more content…
I was so engrossed with creating the protagonist character that will represent William Dawes that I forgot about my surroundings.. As I glance at the night sky I was engulfed with its natural beauty. Within the solar system I was able to observe right then and there how all celestial bodies coexisted so miraculously. Unfortunately the same cannot be said towards human beings. We are all inhabitants of this world and even though people tend to act different from one another we are all one and the same. Since William Dawes was a man of science I incorporated his profession within Rooke’s character as well. It was Rooke’s love of astronomy that was able to secure him a position as a lieutenant aboard a ship heading to the new discovered land. It must have been his deep involvement with astronomy and celestial bodies that when he gazes through the telescope calculating he discovered that we are all part of one universe, that we are not so different we were all part of the same world even though most people don’t act like …show more content…
In our world it is not mystery that they have the power to do so much more. This time I wanted to present a character that was bound by his own words and show how his struggle to escape was futile hence the character Gardiner was created. Gardiner was a victim and had to follow his Duty and complete the task that was expected of him. He was forced to suppress his morality the one thing that made him human. Disregarding ones emotions and conscious to carry out their duty was a lot of people’s only path to survival .It perfectly was able to capture the essence of many burden in that period. As Rooke took an oath to get aboard the ship those words that did not seem carry no real value became that thin line between life and death this emphasizes that a few combinations of letters are able to decide your freedom, your fate, your very

Everett Gray couldn’t tell you the last time he could properly breathe. Even during hockey competitions, there had always been an issue where he couldn’t quite get the amount of air that he really needed to keep going. Sweat would run down his cold skin, as he pulled at the collar of his uniform. His chest would heave, yet all the air seemed to get stuck in his throat, turning into a suffocating lump. He felt his phone vibrating in his pocket, but he refused to make a move to look at the messages being sent.…

RIP Chloe Henry. I didn't really know her that much. We used to go to school together and even though we were both really young I remember your kindnes. All I hear people say about you is how much you cared about everyone and how nice and sweet you were. It's not fair to anyone to have to go through what happened to you. And it's not fair for any parents to have their child pass away. It's not fair how young you were and how many things you never had a chance to do. When I found out about this it made me feel absolutely terrible and I still do whenever I think about this injustice. We all love you and pray for you. You did nothing to deserve this. It makes me so fucking pissed off this happened I don’t understand how this coud be done. We all…

On a hot summer day as I drove towards a small, isolated town called “Dusduo.” I, a small anxiety riddled Native American girl, had no idea what I was doing in such a barren area. My only three friends: Bailey, Roman and Timmy had spent countless hours convincing me to tag along on this “once in a lifetime opportunity.” They are all thrill seekers, and were thoroughly convinced that it would “change my life” for the better. The sole reason for me accompanying them was simply to witness their stupidity, however I quickly became aware of their motive.…

William Blaine grew up as any normal boy with clean clothes, loving parents, and annoying siblings. Yet, at the prime age of nineteen, the nation, of which he lived in, began to crumble under his feet. America’s deep desperation had fallen into what we now call the Great Depression. America fought in World War One, but once it was over, the supply-demand fell through the floor. The Blaine family had been preparing for this day, but had wished it never came.…

Henry, a neurosurgeon who has no love for literature, nonetheless describes parts of the brain (which he would know by heart) with figurative language he claims to not understand. The use of free indirect discourse, therefore, resembles interior monologue and shows that the narration is frequently solipsistic in nature (Gauthier 9). This solipsistic nature reveals the challenge which anyone faces who seeks to step outside of their own world to get to know the other. Although, Perowne is unable to do this with any of the other characters in the novel. A reader, at the same time, is obliged to step outside their own world to understand a character.…
