Movie Analysis: Stomp The Yard

The movie Stomp the Yard is filled with many conflicts and lots of suspense. Stomp the Yard was released in 2007 and is rated PG-13. This movie has a lot of profanity and fighting. The main character DJ had been in a dance-off with his crew and brothers, when a fight broke out and his brother was shot. Ever since his brother was shot, DJ changed his performance and continued to step and enrolled at Truth University. DJ had a lot of competition due to his abilities. There were many other teams DJ competed against when stepping. With so much skill, the other team had found ways to find out where DJ was practicing and recorded his moves and used them in the final battle. Throughout the movie, DJ was really finding himself and he ended up dating
a girl who had previous relations with one of the people on the other team, which caused rivals between the two. DJ did not let that get in the way because he knew that is what he wanted. Growing up, DJ’s parents were never really part of life and when DJ had the big battle, he saw his parents up in the stands and that made him work even harder. As DJ began to work harder and harder on stepping, others were finally recognizing him by his work. With so much talent, there was lots of hate towards him, especially parents and teachers because they did not like the idea of stepping. DJ had got into some trouble and was suspended from the stepping team. That just made others dislike him even more. DJ did not let that get in the way of him still practicing. Then came the last battle and DJ was released from his suspension and was able to step the last battle.
