Answer the following questions (use MS Project help if necessary):
1) Define effort-driven?
a) Effort-driven scheduling extends or shortens the duration of a task to accommodate changes to resources but doesn't change the total work for the task.
2) Under what circumstances would you turn off effort driven scheduling?
a) When you do not want the duration of a certain task to change. If you have a four day review for everyone on the project, when you assign more resources to that task, the days decrease, this is when you do not want effort driven scheduling. You want it to stay at 4 days.
3) Use a real-world example of when you would make a task as a Fixed Duration type task?
a) A painter is assigned to paint the living room in 4 days which is 32 hours of work. The customer asks the painter to paint another room, but the painter can only work part time 50%. Enter 50%, the project keeps the duration fixed at 4 days and recalculates the work to be 16 hours.
4) What is the formula for calculating duration?
Work / Units = Duration
5) What are the eight preset work contours (hint: In the Task Usage view right click on a resource name an open the assignment information box) and what are the procedures in applying them to a resource on a task?
a) Flat
b) Back-loaded
c) Front-loaded
d) Double Peak
e) Early Peak
f) Late Peak
g) Bell
h) Turtle
i) To change the work contour for an assignment in either Task Usage View or the Resource Usage View, double-click an assignment to open the Assignment Information Dialog box and choose a contour from the Work Contour drop-down
