There are certain factors we need to consider when choosing a career. What are the factors that you will consider when choosing a career?
Task ( Candidate D )
In your opinion, personal interest is an important factor when choosing a career. Elaborate. Good morning to everyone. There are certain factors we need to consider when choosing a career. In my opinion, personal interest is an important factor when choosing a career. The first reason is that we will be more committed in performing on the tasks given. This is because, if we are able to put our passions and skills into a career, we are more likely to enjoy our work and succeed in our position. Moreover, we will be able to concentrate on the career without being distracted easily. For example, the co-founder of Apple, Steve Jobs once said “If you are working on something exciting that you really care about, you don’t have to be pushed. The vision pulls you. ” This quote shows that Steve Jobs’ concept has been proven by his passion on leading apple to become one of the world’s largest company in the technological industry. The second reason is because we will be more creative & innovative on the career. Most of the people are lack of creativity and innovation because they were not interested on the career chosen since the beginning. They were unable to synthesise and produce new contents other than following the original way it used to be. Whereas if an individual is interested and enjoyed its work, interesting ideas will begin to kick in, resulting in a better solution for any problems associated with the career. For instance, the legendary career of inventor Thomas Alva Edison during his childhood was full of curiosity about how things worked and always asked a lot of questions. This illustrates how creativity can be cultivated by anyone, in any industry as long as the interest is there. The final reason is that perseverance is important when we are in a

Motivation plays a big role in success. With a crumby job you don’t want to do anything. You want to sit around and count the hours until you can go home, but a good job doesn’t feel like work. It gives you just as much pleasure as it does to be home. If you are motivated you get things done quicker and better. Even the smallest accomplishments feel huge because having a job you love gives you extra motivation. In the book Outliers By Malcolm Gladwell he talks about something called the ten thousand hour rule. Gladwell says it takes around ten thousand hours to achieve true mastery in any field of work. “What’s ten years? Roughly how long it takes to put in ten thousand hours of hard practice.” If that’s the case it would be very difficult and tiring to try and reach mastery if you hate your job. The lack of motivation would be detrimental to ones success. No motivation leads to a person falling behind in their craft and when someone falls behind the others skill wise it can cause their confidence to drop lower than it already was. “Achievement is talent plus preparation. The problem with this view is that the closer psychologists look at the careeres of the gifted, the smaller the role innate talent seems to play and the bigger the role preparation seems to play.” Says Gladwell. Innate talent and preparation also plays a…

The speech was an eye-opener for those people who did not get satisfaction for the work they did. A recent research that was conducted by Gallup showed that more than 70% of Americans dislike their careers (Fields 55). As a result, there is a sharp drop in the delivery of services because the love for the job has dissipated. In his speech, Steve Jobs talked about following one’s heart in choosing a career. Pursuing one’s passion brings satisfaction to an individual such that they may not wish to get anywhere else. Jobs used his experiences to make the audience understand his point. Jobs dropped out of college because he was not getting the satisfaction he was craving for. He felt that he was wasting his parent’s money learning the things he did not like. Jobs followed his dream and years later, he became one of the most successful people in the world. Although there are valid contrasting views to Steve Jobs’ idea of choosing a career, such as Jeff Haden’s views in Do What You Love? Screw That, Jobs’ notions are the most compelling (Fields 81). The example of the success achieved by Jobs is just one of those moments that people follow their dream and go on to achieve greatness. Many benefits will be accrued by an individual who chooses to follow his/her passion in a career…
