Multimodal Learning Style Analysis
There are four styles of learning. Kinesthetic, visual, aural, and reading/writing. Kinesthetic takes a hands on approach and demonstration would be a good way to learn new material. Aural learns by listening or speaking. Hearing new material and then repeating it works well for this type of learner. Visual learners learn best by seeing what they are expected to learn. Making flash cards and color coding important parts of notes are good ways to visualize new information. A person who learns best from reading/writing focus more on each word in the sentence they read or write. Questionnaire results show that I have a multimodal learning style. A multimodal learner learns from each of the four learning styles. Visual is my primary learning style. Secondary was kinesthetic with reading/writing being third. Aural being the least style I use.
With visual being my primary learning style and kinesthetic being secondary, quiet and comfortable environments for learning are very necessary. Being able to take notes to have for later and also being able

During classes at school I was always looking for ways to learn by doing an activity. At work I did use both of the methods to learn how to operate Acudose machines by touching them and seeing using them. While in a classroom and studying I never realized that I needed a more visual approach but in the work field I did use both ways. I now realize that adding more visual learning will help me improve and become more productive in the classroom. For example, adding flash cards would need to be incorporated for a more visual approach. Avoiding distractions making the important information in my line of vision would be another good example to move toward better learning opportunities, while still incorporating my normal “hands on” approach. Although, reading, writing and aural are all still very important ways of learning need to be focused on a little

Preferred learning style is a multimodal learning style which includes all of the above mentioned four learning modes. First of all, visual learning strategies include looking at pictures, postures, slides, diagrams, graphs, flow charts, and underlining and highlighting the key words during learning. After the teaching session is over, a visual learner should recall visual images used during learning and should practice turning visual images into words again to be able to write if needed for examination. Secondly, Aural learning strategies include attending classes and then discussing with others to hear from them, attending tutorials, discussing topics with educators, using a tape recorder to record lecture and then listening to it, and reading notes aloud to hear then again in order to remember material. Third, Read/write learning strategies include writing and rewriting key words and ideas, making a new list from diagrams and graphs, reading notes silently over and over, and practicing examination by writing answers. Lastly, kinesthetic learning strategies include using all the senses to learn material via demonstration. It includes experimenting in laboratories, field trips to learn new ideas, listening to lecture which includes real…

An auditory learner, learns best through listening and through what they hear. Unlike visual learners who need instructions to be demonstrated, auditory learners prefer their instructions to be verbal and well explained. Also, too much noise could be a distraction in a classroom for a visual learner. Auditory learners tend to concentrate better when they have soft music playing in the background. A kinesthetic learner tends to learn best through movement and activities.…

When in a classroom setting, it would be difficult to focus on one type of learning style and meet everyone’s needs. I feel a multimodal approach would best suit the needs of a class to touch upon styles that may benefit everyone. In contrast, if an instructor is meeting individually with a student, knowing the learning style of the student may allow for the instructor to employ different strategies to assist the student in learning the material.…

Learning styles are techniques to help enhance quality of learning. They are useful in problem solving and communication. They help process the information in different ways. There are multiple styles of learning that vary in numerous ways. Evaluating and exploring your own style will provide useful information to help enhance your quality of learning. Because we tend to use different learning styles in different situations, most of us have a mix of learning styles. One of the most popular guides to learning styles is a model developed in 1987 by Neil Fleming, a teacher from New Zealand. This guide is called VARK. The word VARK is an acronym. V, represents visual learning, like using pictures and graphs or charts. A, auditory learning, which consists of lectures, music, discussions. R, and K, for kinesthetic learning, which includes hands-on activities. This paper will address the diversity of learning styles, and how identifying and interpreting your own style may boost the quality of learning you receive.…

Multifocal learning is the preferred learning style for majority of the learning population. Multifocal learning can be a combination of Visual and Auditory or Read/Write or Kinesthetic. It can also be a combination of 2or 3 of the above mentioned leaning styles. Multifocal Learning helps to use more strategies to learn and communicate. So based on the questionnaire aural, read/write and kinesthetic is the preferred learning style. For the multifocal learners, they prefer more techniques of learning and they may feel incomplete if they have to stick to only one strategy.…

As mentioned above my dominant learning style is Kinesthetic of course. I plan to take this learning style to help with my online courses, by making study lessons each week. Every week when I am reading over material, I always make note cards with important key factors of what I read during that week. At the end of the week I review over all my material that I read for a refresher. I think the strengths I have with my learning style is that I retain information very easy. The information that I learn and receive will always stick and remain with me; I have great memory with the kinesthetic learning style.…

Each individual in a class may fall in several group therefore the teacher should incorporate all VARK modalities when teaching their student. This will help all the students to learn instead of just a particular group of students. A teacher must cater to the attention of the Visual learner by doing role models, giving demonstration, showing visual aids or presentation of diagrams and charts to help the visual learner achieve their goal of learning. The teacher should be aware the students learning styles to create a meaningful session. If all the students in a class are aural learners the session would mostly involves lectures, instead of giving out pamphlets and giving chapters from text book to read. All this may go well for the read/write group of learners but does not help aural learners. This will help the teacher because her students will learn better and time would be used appropriately. A student can choose their method of study if they are aware of their study style. Classroom setting may go well for an aural learner and read/write learner. They will have the opportunity of listening to lectures given by their teacher and then take notes and seek clarification through asking questions. A practical course may go well for a visual learner as well as a kinesthetic they get the chance of looking at demonstration or a picture of the actual content of what is being taught.
