“Music . . . can name the unnameable and communicate the unknowable.” – Leonard Bernstein
Purpose:
The purpose of this activity is to reflect on your study of music so far this year and to identify how it has contributed to your personal growth and your awareness of yourself and others. The activity is also to help you identify what you have learned and what to focus on for improvement.
Ministry Expectations:
OVERALL:
B3 - Skills and Personal Growth: demonstrate an understanding of how performing, creating, and critically analyzing music has affected their skills and personal development;
SPECIFIC:
B3.1 - identify and describe how the study of music has contributed to their personal growth, their ability to express themselves, their awareness of the aural world around them, and their awareness of others
B3.2 - describe the development of their musical skills and knowledge, and identify the main areas they will focus on for improvement
B3.3 - identify and describe some of the interpersonal skills and work habits that contribute to the successful completion of individual and collaborative musical tasks
Task:
In your developmental workbook, write a 3-paragraph response to the following questions. A good way to split it up would be to answer one of the questions in each paragraph. I am looking for specific reflections and responses.
1. Identify and describe how the study of music this term has contributed to your personal growth, your ability to express yourself, your awareness of the aural world around you and your awareness of others. 2. Describe the development of your musical skills and knowledge, and identify the main areas you will need to focus on for improvement. 3. Identify and describe some of the interpersonal skills and work habits that contribute to the successful completion of individual and collaborative musical tasks.
