Music Is an Arrangement
Music is an arrangement of sounds identified by the human ear, however not all sounds identified by the human ear are treated as music. Music is a reflection of many different revolutionary movements. Music can also be based on historical or personal events. For example, economic and social changes caused by World War II had an effect on Blues and Country Music. Hip Hop musician Davey D stated, “Keep in mind when brothas start flexing the verbal skillz, it always reflects whats going on politically, socially and economically.”
Radio has drawn the nation together by opening up communication, news and entertainment. I has also allowed leaders to address the nation at the same time. Case in point, President Roosevelt used the radio to bring the nation through the Great Depression and a large part of World War II. The radio has also helped to propel the American cultures into other cultures.
Prince is my personal favorite artist. Born Prince Rogers Nelson on June 7 1958. He is a musician, multi-instrumentalist, a manager, composer, songwriter, record producer, dancer and actor. Prince began his music writing when he was seven years old and started singing as a teenager in 1974 and is still active in the music industry today. Prince writes and produces his own music and plays most of the instruments himself. Prince has sold over 100 million records worldwide in his career, earning 33 Grammy nominations winning 7 awards. He also has two albums awarded the Grammy Hall of fame award and has also won four MTV Video Music Awards. “When Doves Cry” and “Purple Rain” are a couple of my favorites of the song Prince sings.
