Classroom Management
What classroom management and lesson ideas have you observed that made an impression?
The classroom management technique that was the most effective in my classroom was “class, class..yes, yes.” The teacher would simply say “class, class” in whatever pitch she chose and the students had to match saying “yes, yes.” She would even jazz it up and say “classity, class” and the students respond by saying “yessity, yes.”
In what way have the behavior management and discipline methods you have observed influenced you?
In my classroom, the behavior was not managed very well! Students were threatened with “I’m going to call mom/dad” or “you’re going to the principals …show more content…
office” instead of the teacher handling the situations within the classroom. So what I can say that I learned was what not to do. I saw how these threats negatively impacted the students and did not allow an opportunity to build a trusting relationship between students and teachers.
Which of these do you think you will use in your future classroom?
I will definitely use the technique to get my class’ attention.
I think that it is a fun way to bring order to your class.
Clinical Reflection

I truly grew as a future teacher throughout my clinical experience. I was able to experience a completely different school environment than I was accustomed to. I feel that I am more able to relate to my students and parents.

excited!
What significant things did you learn about yourself - about teaching and learning – about being a teacher – about students?
I learned that I did not have as much patience as I thought! I learned how much teachers mean to students, especially those teaching in urban areas.
As a result of your experiences in your first clinical experience, what specific learning experiences will you seek next semester?
I would like to learn how to better communicate with parents.
I want to improve the parent involvement in my class.
Course Reflections
How did the COURSE ASSIGNMENTS connected to clinical experiences impact your sense of confidence and ability in working with culturally diverse students?
The course assignments allowed me to practice what I was learning. I would learn something in class or while doing an assignment and suddenly have an “ah ha” moment; everything started coming together. The group assignment that we had really opened my eyes to how culture affects the way we learn and our approach to everything.
How did the COURSE CONTENT impact your sense of confidence and ability in working with culturally diverse students?
This course thoroughly prepared me for my own classroom! The cultural background assignment really made me aware of certain characteristics and trends of students in my classroom. Also, the classroom management tips and strategies were greatly helpful! I especially loved the idea of having
“islands” for the students that cannot handle sitting in groups.
How did the discussions in this course impact your sense of confidence and ability in working with culturally diverse
students?
Being able to hear about everyone’s challenges and triumphs of their clinical experiences really keep me in high spirits. It was comforting to hear that other students were experiencing the same hardships. I enjoyed hearing everyone’s point of view of each lesson.
