My Destination
“My destination ” There are many reasons why my destination is different from others. My destination is St. Maarten which is a country that is divided into two sides. It is a 37 square miles country with over 37 different beaches. It is a country where every roundabout has a statue. My destination is divided into two sides which are known as the Dutch side (St. Maarten) and the French side (St. Martin). Living on an island with two sides can be very interesting. For example: I have been living on the Dutch side (St. Maarten) for over 10 years and I know everything about the St. Maarten and would like to learn more about another place. So I would just drive to the French side and learn about their instead of going to another country or island. Therefore, that is what makes my destination different from others. My destination is a 37 square miles country altogether. The French side is 21 square miles while the Dutch side is 16 square miles. Living in a 37 square miles country can be very fun comparing to other countries or islands that are bigger. For example: I can tour both the French and Dutch side in one day without traffic. Therefore, that is what makes my destination different from others. My destination has over 37 different types of beaches. There are __ beaches on the French side and ___ on the Dutch side. Having so many beaches on a 37 square miles country is different from other places. For example: Every Easter you and your family always go to the same beaches, instead of going to the same beach over and over again you can just go to a different beach every year. So, that is what makes my destination different from others. My destination is a place where you can find statues at every roundabout both on the French and the Dutch side. Just by looking at the statues at every roundabout people can learn about the history of St. Maarten. They can also learn about the creativity of the people that are living in the country. So, that is what makes my

When I was a young girl, I fantasized about becoming a stewardess so that I could travel the world and visit exotic places. Unfortunately, in order to be a stewardess, one of the many qualifications years ago, was that you had to be at least 5’8” tall and I was only 5’5”. My dream of becoming a stewardess was shattered; however, it did not stop me from wanting to travel the world. I decided that if I could not be a stewardess, I would become a travel agent as they were allowed to travel to many different and exciting destinations in order to recommend these places to their clients. The one foreign destination that I would love to visit is Venice, Italy because of the romantic atmosphere, gondolas and the waterways this city has to offer its many visitors. Venice is located in the northeast part of Italy and is sited on a group of 118 small islands separated by canals and linked by…

Today, the United States and the world owes a lot to Ancient Rome for numerous things. It may not seem like it, though, because how could a world run by technology have anything in common with anything that happened a couple thousand years ago? Well, among some things, many of the same building styles are used, and ancient aqueducts paved the way for the modern reservoirs and heating systems. The spread of Christianity also began during Roman times, and nobody can deny that that isn’t a huge part of American society today.…

I will still be the same person with the exact same flaws and problems. The roots I leave will remain attached to me, no matter how hard I try rid myself of them. Everything will stay the same; only the location of my residence will differ. This sobering revelation leads me to ponder the importance of a place. Does the place that one lives in make them who they are? Or do people make the place what it is? Maybe, these two options harmonize together, like a lively string duet. Perhaps, this causes a place to contain even more significance because it is people that make a lot of land a country, a city, a neighborhood, a home. If this is true, we should ask ourselves “What kind of person do I want to be?” before we wander off into…

The death penalty is a major topic for debate Shannon Rafferty defends in her portfolio published by Penn State entitled “Death Penalty Persuasive Essay.” She believes the penalty should be allowed because it functions as a deterrent, it provides society retribution and it is morally just. Olivia H. disagrees with use of the death penalty in her essay “Capital Punishment Is Dead wrong.” She tells about the risk of punishing the innocent, and how the states are doing irreversible acts of crime. As the authors disagree about whether the death penalty should be allowed, they have some common ground when it comes to admitting the potential for human error and in both disagreeing to the use of barbaric punishments by the government.…

Several years ago I made a trip to Cape Town South Africa, and it was one of the most memorable trips of my life. The excitement of the unknown grew with each passing hour spent in the air, high above the earth.
