My E-Term: What I Learned About Myself
I learned a lot during my E-Term and loved every minute of it. When I first discovered I received this class, I was very excited. I love to watch theater productions, and I have always wanted to be a part of the theater. During E-Term, I really feel I connected with my creative side, and I learned a lot about myself as an actor. I really came into my own I feel as a result of my time in this class. At the beginning, I was still a little awkward and unsure of being impolite. I have really grown as an actor because now I do not worry so much about being polite and stopped caring about whether people think I am awkward or not. I feel I finally broke through the glass box that was holding me back, and now I give my all. I really feel I become very connected to my creative side, and know now how to apply that side of me when playing a character. I feel a big difference in my performance like in The Apology Tour, I feel very comfortable playing my …show more content…

I would say that I felt more confident working with small groups or in the one-to-one scenario, rather than when I was in front of the whole class, being observed. For example,I was given ten minutes to introduce the idea of making stands for mdf mirrors that they were in the process of finishing. They had to design their stand in 2d design, which I had spent two nights trying to work out and still needed the…

Over the course of my day at Shepherdstown elementary I learned a lot more than I thought would even be possible. I witnessed both the good and bad moments during my one short day. Mrs. Austin seemed to have it all together, she was an amazing role model in the classroom and showed me what I should and shouldn’t do in certain situations. Observing the classroom showed me that I need to learn a lot of vital information throughout the program at Shepherd in order to be able to become successful in the classroom one day. When I started my day at Shepherdstown Elementary, I had mixed feelings. I was passionate and eager to be there but I also felt a sense of intimidation and fear when I started interacting with the students. I began to watch the teachers and see what they were doing. After sitting in the classroom and getting adjusted, my feelings had transformed. I started becoming more comfortable and feeling a lot better about where I was. By the end of the day I had a remarkable time and I cannot wait to have a classroom of my own one-day.…

Throughout the past two years at Staten Island Academy, this learning environment has given me many opportunities that I could not have gotten at any other school. I'm not the most athletic, but I do very much enjoy playing sports. Here at the Academy middle school, I was able to experience any sport that I wanted to play, without a tryout system. The music and theater program here has given me countless opportunities to better my skills as an actor and a baritonist. I have been able to act in two plays, "Schoolhouse Rock Live, Jr." and "Cyrano deBurgershack." They helped me learn the ins and outs of acting, as I was a beginner before I came to the Academy. In the orchestra, I have appeared in 5 concerts, all of which have been immensely successful thanks to our conductor, Ms. Wheatley. There have also been many truly amazing teachers that have guided me to academic success. Specifically, Mr. Levine helps me to understand…

All of the tips and strategies a student will learn help create the basis for every step and choice in their lives. Creating this skillful individual takes time and effort and will only be accomplished with the strength and determination to do so. In the duration of Education 1300 I have come to really understand things more clearly and gather the skills I need to be a great peak performer. What I really hope to take of this class is the strengths and friendships I have gathered and put them to my everyday life. This class has been one of the most helpful tools in my life; I have learned so many great tips for example: the many lessons taught on relationships and how to handle conflict, I have always been awful at telling others how I feel in a clear and calm way. As a peak performer I am happy to say I have the strength and determination to keep myself moving and to gather a better understanding of the problems in my life. A Peak Performer’s life is not easy but it is manageable and I am determined to make it a good…

I want to challenge my fears of social interaction with the burgeoning environment of college. The close-knit community melded within the honors dorms will force me to crack open my shell. In order to thrive, I must embrace my independence; avoiding thoughts of self-doubt or distrust. My Grandmother has always told me that my professional goals can only be reached with a procurement of the self. An undeveloped sense of self can hinder one's abilities to look towards the future. I aim to develop the aspects of my personality that I find the most advantageous, such as my creativity, my compassion, my strength, and my determination. The honors college will become the catalyst in my journey towards self-confidence, independence, and the embracement of my own creativity within the field I…

I got up at 7.30 this morning, which is earlier than I usually do. Last nights play finished early because of an accidental fire and I got to go to bed early. It was a nice day to perform a play. The sun was out but there was a nice layer of clouds to just cool the air. It was a Friday today and I had been doing plays every day of this week. I hardly have anytime to go over and practice the plays because I have to perform so many. It is a bit easier than people may think because we are all typecasted at the beginning of our careers. This means that we are given for example the role of a King and we will play that role or some role like it through the whole of our careers.…

One time I took a leadership role that was the most relevant to me was when I was the leader in my robotics team in high school. I needed to take the role because everyone else seemed lost and I was the only one with previous robotics experience so I told everyone if they mid if I become the group leader and no one minded. One thing I learned about myself by being the leader is I am very good at giving people specific jobs and keeping everyone on task without them getting distracted. Another thing I learned about myself is i am a strict yet fun leader because I know when its time to stop playing around and get to…

This past summer, I took a workshop where I went through the film making process, wrote several scripts, and made one into a video. Last year, I took a film class where I learned about aspects of film and how to write a screenplay. Where I may lack in experience compared to others, I believe I make up for it in my values and determination.…

I started to become introvert, quiet in class, and very anti-social. All of that changed my senior year. Since I am an ambassador at my school (North Edgecombe High School), it allowed me to speak up more, participate at events, and turn me into a better person. It was one particular event that changed my life around. The event was the: Teach For America Event. At the event, teachers from all around the world, came to my school to learn how to become a better teacher, and how to get their students more active in school. During the event, all the student ambassadors, including myself, had to be a part of it. At the beginning of the event, me and another ambassador had to open the event up by telling them our new mission and vision statement that the students ambassadors created, and why we created it. I was very nervous, but I did very well introducing the event to everyone. This event changed me for the better. Now, I am very sociable and out-going. This event prepared me to be a successful member of this community because it showed me to be true to myself, and if I believe that I can accomplish anything, I can, and I…

My strengths as an actor during the rehearsal period, I believe included my attendance as I had arrived on time to every single rehearsal for my performance in Blood Brothers which means I was able to fully go through what I needed to do every session and make sure I did it. This included rehearsing with all of the others in my cast and also planning our set up and staging, including props costume and set. Also being in for every session made me more relaxed and made me feel ore prepared which meant others felt able to rely on me which helped the rest of my group relax as well, because of this we were all less nervous and worried for our final performance. Another strength I had was probably my ability to learn my lines quickly, this meant that when it came to performing in front of the rest of the class I felt prepared after the first couple of rehearsals, this lead me to have had a good evaluation from them straight away as they pointed out that one of the aspects in my initial performance was my fluency in my lines. I also believe as a whole cast our characterisation and character development was a very big strengh as we all helped each other make sure we knew the characters and could interpret and portray the characters as effectively as possible, this was done through character profiles, in role diaries and some research.…

Because I do musical theatre, I walk around differently. How? Well, now that I’ve relinquished sports, I take more culpability for my choices. From having reduced time for after-school activities, I can order situations from the most imperative, to the least indispensable; I can manage my time better. Also, after I made new friends, I’ve gained the knowledge on how to be more social; I don’t have to try too hard for chums that don’t really deserve to have intimates anyway. In conclusion, acting has changed my life for the better, and I know that this is what God called me to do. Acting has taught me to never go back on my dreams. I guess that’s what I’m trying to do…

Yes, I do realize how cliché this must sound: girl tries theatre, it changes her life, and she wants to pursue it in college, blah blah blah... But when my relationship with the stage began, I was in the third grade, didn’t have any friends, and was so emotionally lost I didn’t even realize I was going in the wrong direction. I’m not going to lie to you and say, “I’ve always known that theatre is my passion,” because that’s just not true. I was only eight; I probably didn’t even know what passion felt like. However, for the first time in my life, I had I finally found something I genuinely enjoyed-- it was a strange new feeling, being included.…

This photograph is not much of an experience, but a reflection on my life as a child itself. I had no idea back then that I would be who I am today. I pictured my future many times, over, and over again. I would make up stories and ideas of the types of friends I would have and what we would do for fun. Imagining your own perfected future is all the innocence of being a child. The unknown reality of the world going on around you. And then all of a sudden you’re a part of that world, and your perfect future is all a distant memory you relive when looking back at old pictures.…
