My Father If living in an ever -changing world has thought me anything, its beauty can be found almost anywhere, at a given time. I find inspiration rather difficult to define, and it’s never been something that I’m considering at ever moment. I’ve always been an observer, someone who mentally records every detail of every moment; the scents, the emotions, and the movement. But if I had to choose an inspiration I would choose Roger Gates, my father. My dad is humorous, quick with a quip or ready to play an innocent joke. He always tries to see the best in everyone and taught me to do the same; anyone who comes in contact with him comes away happier and inspired by him. No matter how busy my father is he will always find the time to listen and be my best friend. He’s taught me to be proud of who i'am and to never look down on anyone. He is the most patient and loving human being. My dad instills the importance of education and motivates me to try my hardest. My father symbolizes more than just someone who brought me into the world; he’s became an extra a voice inside my head. He is much of the motivation for accomplishments in my life. If ever I did poorly, he motivates me and scolds me at the same time. Inspired by my father, I work diligently toward my own goals even when faced with a challenge. During challenging times I recall my father’s stories of his own hardships as he’s worked towards his goal. Encouraged by my dad I try to excel in everything I do.
I remember Christmas time when I was my father princess and we would sit underneath the tree together and he’d smile as I would open my gifts. I knew he was wishing I was a boy in the back of his mind so he could be setting up a basketball hoop, hockey net, or playing trucks with a little boy but instead he much rather enjoyed playing dolls with me.
