--an amazing green building
Today I want to introduce an amazing green building. But, first, I want to show some pictures about Green Buildings.
Green building concept has emerged from the need to meet high standards of energy efficiency and environmental responsibility. It is said to reduce the energy bills and offer a healthier and more comfortable living environment, and improves people’s health and productivity. Use of non-toxic or emission-free materials and products will improve indoor air quality. Green buildings will have a positive environmental, economic and social impact over their life cycle.
Next, let’s get back to the topic, and look at a real green building. I found this building on the Internet. Although I have never gone to see it, I love it, because it highlights the concept of green building, and reflects the environmentally friendly awareness and the innovative idea of the designer.
In Fukuoka City in Japan, there has an contemporary building called “ACROS Fukuoka” with two very distinct sides: one side looks like a conventional office building with glass walls, but on the other side there is a huge terraced (step-like) garden roof, which reaches up to about 60 meters above the ground, contains some 35,000 plants.
The building was constructed in the city center. The architect, Emilio Ambasz, created the design in order to preserve the green space as much as possible. A green roof reduces the energy consumption of a building, because it keeps the temperature inside more constant and comfortable. Green roofs also capture rainwater, and support the life of insects and birds.
This building is very special, impressive and magnificent.
I did some research on the internet and downloaded lots of materials, from which I chose some useful information. I make some arrangements and reorganized it. Of course, add some words we have learnt in class.
