My latest long weekend in Puncak

Puncak in Bogor, West Java is one of the most relaxing places for vacation. People who live in Jakarta and Bandung usually spend their weekend in there. It will take one and a half hour from Jakarta. We can go there by public transportation such as bus or if we want to go there without worry about the traffic we can go by private transportation. My classmates and I went to Puncak for spending our weekend before the mid-term exams. For this vacation my friend who was the leader, his name is Dito, he built a committee to arrange our vacation schedules. One of my friends who was the committee told me extra information that we would have some quizzes for example “ranking 1”, photo booth game, billiard game and also we would had a climb activity in there, I really excited when I heard that.

January 23th 2013, my classmates and I went there by rent 4 private cars. We stayed in our lecturer’s villa near talita hill, Puncak. It was a little thick fogging when we through in the top of the hill. The first day my friends and I was there, we did so many activities like praying, eating, playing billiard, cooking, and so on. Most of my classmates did not take a bath anymore because of the water was so cold. Not so many activities can we did at night, so we prefer to sleep, because we need to re-charge our energy for tomorrow activities. The boys slept in the second floor and the girls in the first floor.

The second day we were planning to go to Cibodas garden near the Gede Pangrango Mountain for hiking. It was raining in the morning, after took a bath and breakfast, it 09.00 a.m. then we went. It just took 15 minutes to reach there from our villa. The entrance ticket was 8.000IDR for local tourist, and 10.000IDR for foreign tourist. Just a little bit confusing when we arrived there because Cibodas Garden has a lot of waterfalls then we need to choose which one that we wanted to climb,

The old taxi van drove up and down the bumpy road on the way to our grandparents' small village, Novo Selo, located on the very border of Bosnia, 1200m above sea level. The taxi driver, dad and mum sat up in the from while we four children sat on the long, brown, cracked leather seat at the back, with all the luggage of course, squished. But this didn't matter. Our gazes were caught on the winter wonderland outside. The ground was blanketed in sparkly white snow, and the tall, once-green trees were now completely white. Growing up in hot, dry South Australia meant we had never seen snow before - it was a childhood dream. To see snow, build a magnificent snowman, and stick a bright orange carrot for a nose, place a big red pot on his head and a long woolly scarf around his neck. And that dream was coming true, right in front of our eyes.…

We reached Clifton at about 9 a.m. The site was very beautiful. Cool and refreshing breeze was blowing. First of all, we began to swim in cold water. After the bath we had tea with light refreshment. After that, some of us enjoyed camel-ride and horse-ride while others played at card and chess. It was now lunch time. Each of us had brought with us the best of dishes prepared at home. We all enjoyed our delicious lunch. Then we had an amusing program of songs and funny stories. Akbar entertained us with his songs. It was discovered that he was very good singer. After that some of us started playing football on the sandy shore. Some of my friends collected sea shells and colorful pebbles. Now it was evening. We had tea at 5 p.m. The last item of the picnic was a group photograph. We all than packed our stuff and were ready to go home.…

My intended audience for this essay, is professional sports league commissioners that think they have done enough to keep the game safe. Concussions have continued to affect professional athletes, meaning there needs to be something done to better protect them. My purpose is to get professional sport leagues to alter the equipment used in the sport and change some of the rules used in the sport, to better protect the athletes. My message is that there have been many instances where concussions have led to brain damage and in some cases, suicide, which shows that these continuous concussions need to stop. My biggest struggle with this essay was finding credible sources because the information that was presented ranged from significant to opinion based, wether it was a doctor writing about his studies, or a football fan writing on his blog. I felt that I did a good job providing certain examples backing up my argument, such as the anecdote about Junior Seau and the paragraph about the other players who also committed suicide. Are my counter arguments realistic? Does the point-counterpoint format work well with my essay or should I put the counter-arguments at the end? Does my conclusion leave the reader thinking? Does my conclusion convince the reader to agree with me?…
