The clattering of plates and the clicking of heels on a tile floor are the white noise of the restaurant. Kitchen partners rush to get the next salad ready, the next steak cooking. The expeditors keep the restaurant working smoothly, the source of communication between the front of the house and the kitchen. A business partner shouts “Corner!” as she rounds the bend between the kitchen and the hallway leading to the general area of the restaurant. Two servers see each other for the first time during their shift and exchange a quick “How are you?” without stopping long enough to hear the reply of their co-worker. A manager explains the goals of the evening to a group of distracted employees in the pass-through, watching a rush of customers enter through the double glass doors. The restaurant lifestyle is a unique discourse with success resulting from the quality of customer service and understanding the value of time-saving efficiency.…
As my family and I stepped d in, we were greeted and welcomed with loud beautiful music, which older families wouldn’t enjoy. I stood head to toe with the overwhelming menu of countless different meal choices. It was nicely dressed in a antique wrap of design around the edges. Each menu choice was separated in categories labeled with elegant and beautiful text, which made me love this place with more passion. I didn’t have one thought of my first choice of a meal for the night. To get saved from the black hole of the Riscky's menu was the generous waiter dressed in a formal manner. She walked up to our smooth wood grain finish table and greeted us with pure sincere gratitude knowing that we didn’t have one clue of what to order. She explained her favorite dish on the menu and I was absolutely certain It was soon to be my favorite as well.…
Identify one restaurant that is currently practicing a steak-house style of operations OR a child-friendly restaurant. Write a summary of the cuisine and a short biography of the chef in charge. This project is due on Day 25 of the class cycle.…
ElBulli is one of the best restaurants in the entire world and provides an extremely unique experience. It is only open 6 months of the year and getting a reservation is almost impossible. They only serve 8,000 customers a year, but get 1 to 2 million reservation attempts a year. The restaurant itself is a difficult journey, but once you are there, the atmosphere is said to feel like an artist's home. Eating at elBulli is not just a night out to dinner, it is an experience described as “Willy Wonka” and “Lab-like full of stainless steel.” Guests receive a tour of the kitchen and are then taken to a terrace that overlooks the beach for some relaxing and tasty cocktails. Then it is time for the meal…
Last weekend, I went to Suwanee, GA to see my father and stepmother because it had recently been my stepmother's birthday. In celebration we chose to dine out at a restaurant called Gulf Coast Grill. It was the first time my family had eaten at the restaurant, but will not be the last. Once stepping inside, I knew it was going to be interesting because the restaurant had a very strong beach theme as well as a live band playing. After being told it was going to be a fifteen to twenty minute wait, I was surprised when our table was called after less than ten. The restaurant experience was already off to a good start, and only continued to get better.…
By now you all know that I travel to eat. My perfect trip includes eating, drinking, eating, a little shopping, and more eating. Although this trip was not that, we did find some pretty delicious eats in…
Kitchen I thought this looks like a good place to eat. If you are thinking…
I could see the intricate designs of grapevines that had been masterfully carved into the light oak posts that held the entryway above my head. Through a miniature window on the far side of the room, I could get a slight glance of the steaming pasta noodles that had been drenched in luscious red spaghetti sauce, before the waitress guided us to our seats. I could feel anticipation building up as the waitress guided us to one of the most well placed tables in the whole restaurant. The light brown, cloth drapes that rested against the smooth brick wall of the restaurant grazed my arm as I passed under one of the exits outside. As soon as the fresh air whipped my face, the noticeable scent of fresh chocolate mousse cake assaulted my nose. I could feel the soft, plush cushioning that rested underneath my backside as I sat down to great relief. My eyes scanned my surroundings, taking in all the sights and smells that I could contain within myself without being overwhelmed. Of all the places to be right then, Charleston was the one. I had experienced the smell of chocolate, the taste of lasagna, the sound of the ocean, the sight of warm, crisp sand, and the feeling of being happy and glad for what I…
Lastly, the services at the Olive Garden grab my attention. As soon as the guests walked through the door we heard, “welcome to Olive Garden”. They usually escort you to your table and asked for the drink order. The drinks and food is taken in an appropriate manner. The server seemed very well-informed of the menu and very respectful as well. He had a great attitude that makes people feel comfortable with them. As guests eat their meal the server usually comes twice to check on the customers and give them refills. While dining at the Olive Garden the service was phenomenal. The server…
The only good thing about your restaurant was the customer service as the waiters were very patient and were listening to all our complaints. I am very disappointed with the food provided at Sonny’s birthday gathering and hope that in future you will maintain good standards. I think you own my entire dinner party a free meal. If you need to contact me you can do so at 843-342-7593 between the hours of 10 am and 7pm.…
America has been getting tougher on lawbreakers. This is something that the public long has been demanding. The problem it creates, however, is a shortage of prison capacity to hold the increased numbers of convicted criminals. This has led to: prison overcrowding, sometimes prompting court actions against penal systems; rapidly rising operational outlays; and taxpayer resistance to the cost of new prisons. A partial answer to the problems of prison overcrowding and high costs may be the "privatization" of prisons. Costs and overcrowding problems are the driving force behind the privatization phenomenon. As a national average, it costs roughly $20,000 per year to keep an inmate in prison. There are approximately 650,000 inmates in state and local prisons. This costs taxpayers an estimated $18 billion each year. More than two thirds of the states are facing serious overcrowding problems, and many are operating at least 50 percent over capacity.…
A person enters, expecting delicious, French food. His name is Mallard Cassiopeia, and he makes a living off reviewing restaurants just as this one. He walks in, surveying the homely restaurant with precarious intent, not wanting to overlook or misjudge even a single, precious detail.…
The best part of the day had arrived, dinner. We had a reservation at the pier in which we were going to eat dinner. We looked like a whole bunch of bees ready to attack. The food was there. Right in front of our noses. We could feel the presence of the warmth coming from the food. The smell was just making our mouths water and our tummies rumble. We looked at each other with such eagerness to have some of those explicit desserts in our mouths. There we were, with our food served and ready to attack. I knew that when I was done with this food there was no longer going to be any space for the dessert. Overall the food was amazing and the experience as well.…
First, the atmosphere I see when I arrive, provides a serene message to make me feel like I’m in Italy. The tables are long rectangles or small and quaint, while the seating provides a atmosphere of warmth and comfort. In fact, it’s always well maintained and clean. As I walk in, the immediate smell of delicious food in the air makes my mouth water. The playing of low themed music, helps me relax while seated. The several ceiling fans provide comfort and keeps a cool breeze inside Olive Garden. The bathrooms smell like I entered a Yankee Candle store. The smell of strawberry conceals the normal odors in a bathroom and the many stalls almost guarantee no line.…
First, I noticed how far this place was from where I live. The restaurant was in Snellville. As we arrived the building was made of this type of stone brick. The roof was made of the red tile shingles you would usually find on the roofs of houses in California. To me when I first entered it smelled like freshly mopped floor. A group of hosts greeted us at the door with a big smile and a “Hola Senoritas!”…
