This quote summarizes my motivation to enter the field of dietetics. Eating healthy will always be the foundation of my beliefs, both personally and professionally. I did over 100 hours of observation with the clinical dietitian at West Cal cam Hospital in Sulphur. He was reviewing with each patient their personal case. In this setting, I have been able to concentrate on improving my counseling skills, which were initially limited. Weekly counseling practice and constructive feedback from my supervisor have been invaluable towards my growth. I believe the coursework the program offers will help make me a well-rounded, successful dietitian. Acceptance into the dietetics program will help fulfill my short term goal of acquiring of becoming a Registered Dietitian. I plan to focus on community nutrition, because it has been always a passion of mine. As a dietitian, I hope to play an essential role in providing nutrition to the impoverished.
Facing my future goals, I will be presented with many different and possibly stressful situations. I find my strength in adapting to stressful situations. As an extremely driven individual, my weakness is evident in my multitasking, rather than focusing solely on one job at a time. As I’m advancing toward my master’s degree, I’m learning that focusing on one task at a time is more efficient.
