Currently, I use writing in my career for reports, email responses, and monthly summary reports that I'm required to do and send to my superiors. My reports are for arrest, stats, current personnel assignments, and manpower hours. I have to send business type emails to my superiors several times a week with information they have to report to the Sheriff. Several of these documents are used for legal proceedings and must be error free. Writing in my career has increased. It seems there is a new form or added information that needs to be included with my reports, which requires more writing very month or so.…

Writing has always been a way to express things in a way that is more creative and exploratory than just talking out loud. With words you can paint a picture better that Picasso could ever dream of. With flowing sentences that swiftly swallow the mind in an array of shrouded mystery that boggles most but the unknowing souls that know not what they know but who they know. With a well constructed array of words and of phrases that coherently make sense you can do wonders.…

But before you start writing, you need to get organized. You need to put all those wonderful ideas down on paper in a form you can use. Why? Because your memory is fallible, and your creativity has probably left a lot of holes in your story -- holes you need to fill in before you start writing your novel. You need a design document. And you need to produce it using a process that doesn't kill your desire to actually write the story. Here is my ten-step process for writing a design document. I use this process for writing my novels, and I hope it will help you.…

My Writing Process Writing is a process that came about because people believed that it was critical to record what was happening and being created at that time. Many people view writing as a formal and elaborate form of communication, when in reality, writing is just an extended form of speech. The stance I take on my writing is that when someone else reads my work they should hear my voice and envision me reading the paper to them. Because of the philosophy I have on writing, I avoid the formal process that includes 13 multi-layered steps.…

From a very young age I've always been intrigued by learning. Anytime I would be given a piece of work to do, even in kindergarten, I would always try to challenge myself; writing more then I was supposed to, having the neatest paper in the class, finishing ahead of time, or just creating more work for myself. Now, as I've gotten older, that interested hasn't gone away. Still to this day, I find myself doing extra problems in my math book in an attempt to learn more ways how to solve the problem, or writing an extra version of an essay to see which one had the better literary layout. I've always had a drive to succeed and learning just helped to fuel the fire.…

We all have processes and habits in nearly all that we do including writing a paper. In my general experience I evaluate the efficiency of my writing processes and habits based on whether I have achieved my desired outcome. I view writing as a task and just as in all tasks within my life I hate to be rushed, so I make sure that I have a sufficient amount of time to devote. In correlation with the time factor, I revise and edit after every paragraph of my writing assignments. When I am given a writing assignment my overall goal is to write a paper worthy of an impressive grade.…

These skills amass over time and are put to use in an array of circumstances throughout our lives, but do we know exactly where, how and who taught us to write?…
