My Writing Strength

hroughout the first half of this semester, there have been times where I felt extremely confident in writing and there have been times where I should have asked for help but didn’t and my writing wasn’t as good as it should have been. I believe that I don’t posses many strengths as a writer but one strength I know I have is my ability to formulate my thoughts clearly into ideas on paper. I do know that I have many weaknesses as a writer. One of my glaring weaknesses has to be my lack of revision on the papers that I submit. I have received comments on my papers on the quantity of typos and the grammatical errors that I didn’t fix because I all I was doing was running my papers through spell check once I was done. What I need to do to fix the issues with my typos is and grammatical errors is to sit down and actually take the time to reread what I wrote. Taking the time to revise my writing will not only improve my overall scores on my papers, it will also improve the quality of my writing in the future. The way that I will fix my issue with lacking details in sentences and paragraphs is to outline my ideas for the paper before I begin to write. Writing my ideas down on paper first will allow me to build on my ideas rather than having to come up with details for my ideas as I am writing the paper. I feel quite confident so far in my abilities as a critical and analytical thinker. I was having some trouble with all of the analysis that was assigned during the beginning of the year but I was able to overcome the early troubles and develop my skills as an analytical
One of my strengths that allows me to usually be prepared to participate and have a productive day in class is that I am rather organized. If I remember to look at the syllabus on the Sunday prior to the week starting, I write down everything I need to complete for the week, download any required reading material, and complete the readings and assignments all on time prior to going to class. My biggest weakness in my preparation for class is when I forget to look at moodle, my email, or my syllabus. There have been a few times this first half of the semester that I was not the best prepared for class. I downloaded a few reading articles and books in the minutes that I was in my seat waiting for class to start and would begin to cram the reading so I had some sort of understanding on what the reading material was about.
