My Literacy Strengths
By analysing my recent report card (mid-semester 2, 2017) I have discovered several improvements that I have taken into consideration. I have also received good feedback from my teachers concerning my seven subjects. Throughout these subjects (Math, Science, Indonesian, English, Visual art, HPE) I have displayed the seven PLP capabilities, but as always, there is still room for improvement. My literacy skills were shown through my English course in which the teacher said I am “able to write well-constructed paragraphs to develop an argument” and can “create her own justified interpretations.” Numeracy strengths were represented through advanced mathematics in which I am a “highly accomplished student who is working above the standard for year …show more content…

However, in mathematics I am “adept at using a computer to display and interpret graphical …show more content…

My preferred learning style, according to the test, is through interpretation and explanation of ideas and information via language, written and spoken pieces of text (narratives, poetry, expositorys) and I am able to understand the relationships between communication and meaning. I agree with this result as I have always enjoyed English, and like using my imagination to create stories. I have also always enjoyed Indonesian, as I like the idea of being able to communicate with others in the natural tongue. Both of these preferences fit in with the description of a linguistic learner and I have considered occupations such as an author and lawyer for my choice of

Major Assignment 1 Rough Draft My literacy development has developed a lot over time and one of the reasons that it has developed is my grandma, she basically taught me everything that I know. I was always with my grandma she was kind of tough when it comes to education and learning, but I was never really a school loving kid I guess you can say I hated it. My grandma wasn't a strict person at all she just wanted all her grandkids to have good posture and great grammar so no one could ever say that we don't know how to speak or talk. Throughout Vollowe's article she repeatedly…

Like most, when I think of the word literacy my mind automatically goes towards my english classes, poems, papers or readings. This may be because the word has more than one definition, one being “the ability to read or write”. Although, there is another meaning that changes the words interpretation around, “Competence or knowledge in a specific area”. This means anything you consider yourself knowledgeable about is a literacy. Everyone encounters different literacies in their lives.…

I have always had faith in my writing capabilities; however, it wasn’t until I started my first year of college English, that I realized no matter how great of a writer I thought I was, there was always room for improvement! Some of my strengths as a writer include personality, voice, and the ability to add transitions that give character to my writing style. I have many weaknesses in my writing: grammar, spelling, punctuation (which I happen to be working on every time I write), and many other quirks that a brilliant writer would catch. Between paper one and paper two, I have mastered projecting my “voice”, as well as my personality. I like my papers to feel as though I was sitting next to the reader and chatting with them about my story.…

hroughout the first half of this semester, there have been times where I felt extremely confident in writing and there have been times where I should have asked for help but didn’t and my writing wasn’t as good as it should have been. Literacy in My Life Growing up, I cherished the shelves on top of shelves of books that my sister and I had collected. On rainy days I would be doing one of two activities, reading a book, or writing my own book. I was such a bookworm that my mom would have to ground me from reading and force me to play outside. All throughout elementary school, I was on the Creative Writing, Listening Skills, Editorial Writing, and Spelling UIL competitions. I got to school early and stayed late just to work on spelling difficult words, coming up with a story that had events made up from my imagination, and practicing arguing on a piece of paper.…
