By using upper illumination, it was clear that the bug had a shiny “coat” on it, due to the light reflected off of it, which appeared to be a green and red color.
There wasn’t much time to look at the bug, therefore, there is not much evidence to be used in supporting the claim that the mystery powder is black little bugs. However, an idea to furthermore support the stated evidence of the powder being bugs, would be to find out the region or environment the bugs came from, and research bug species in the area, and try to compare images or descriptions to the microscope image. On the other hand, 450x was the greatest magnification allowed for the microscope used. Microscopes are rather expensive, however, buying or obtaining one with a higher power may allow more features to come
up. For example, the simple anatomy for insects is an antennae, head, thorax, abdomen, and six legs. With a higher power microscope that could classify the bug as an insect, that may eliminate many possible species of what the bug may or may not be.
