“Dad do we really have to go?” I whined. It is the start of winter and my dad wants to go camping in the middle of nowhere. It’s going to be so boring, just me by myself, No kids, no games and worst of all no PlayStation. I mean, I don’t mind going camping in a tent, but does dad really have to make it in the middle of my only holidays away from school? Not to mention in the middle of winter, if I was a polar bear I probably wouldn’t mind.
“Yes Adam we have already booked and paid for our spot. I will make it a fun little 4 day trip. As soon as you get home you can do whatever you like!” Dad tried to bribe me.
I know dad really wants to go and I feel bad, it’s one of those things that you know you should do but you just don’t want to. Such as playing PlayStation games, you know you should get off and do homework but you just can’t get yourself to do it.
Dad is the sort of person that buys all the latest gear but never uses it. I sort of feel bad for not showing any interest, so I guess I should go just to make it up to him. He’s just sitting there looking a bit disappointed. I just ask him about all his new gear so it seems like I’m interested in why he spent four hundred dollars for a two man tent.
He’s starting to feel abit better now that he thinks I want to go, so we head off. It was forty minutes into the trip that I find out it’s a 4 hour drive! I had a sleep for about 3 hours and then we were almost there. I was so relieved.
Later on I help dad set up the tent. We had only seen about 6 different people in the same park as us. The only one I really took notice was of some weirdo that had no tent, just a white van. He seemed to be heading down to the river to fish but it was getting dark and he was just leaving. A bit weird I reckon.
Dad and I agree in making rice and eggs for dinner which was made well by dad’s latest stoves and pots. I must say dinner was better than I thought it would be, I thought it would be grubs and some snake. I
