Narrative-Brotherhood
I laid my head on my table as I heaved a deep, exhausted sigh. That was the only way I could release the exasperation I had locked within myself. It is that tight feeling where you are unable to think or act; even breathe. To be precise, it feels like owl claws clutching your heart. Sitting there restlessly, I recalled the incident yesterday. It was an ordinary Thursday. The birds chirped merrily, the trees swayed in the slight breeze and the usual morning gossip was going on in the school. One corner was cluttered with juniors, the other the seniors. I sat there; literally motionless on the bench, watching the world pass by; my eyes blank and cold. ‘Hey James! It has been long since we hanged out. Do you want to join us after school to Buzz café?’ Looking back, I saw Tom and Mark grinning at me. A smile crept at the corners of my mouth as I eagerly accepted their invitation. Tom and Mark are one of those always stick with me through thick and thin. In my small, tight social circle, these two pals always help me through anything; whether it is work or even my isolation. With a spring in my step, I walked to the classrooms energetically as I awaited school to finish with intense anticipation. It has been a long time since I hanged out with anyone and maybe , today can change my mundane life. Time crawled and seemed like an eternity before I heard the school bell ring. With euphoria bubbling inside me, I accompanied my friends to the Buzz café- a popular site where most teenagers spend their time with friends. ‘So bro, did you check out the latest game boy! It was so cool! Ten thousand games yet the price is really affordable!’ Mark exclaimed. We were totally immersed in our conversation and I was certainly having the time of my life when I caught a glimpse of a familiar face. It was my brother.
Flabbergasted, I stared straight him, wide eyed. My heart palpitated wildly as if a cobbler was working at my heart. Knitting my brows, I tried to avoid him as

I walked out of Miss Shnyzer’s office. It had been about an hour ago that Toby Kavner, my name, was called over the loudspeaker. I walked over to my mates, Max Lavell, Jimmy Cass and Dylan Dolan, who were tossing their apples over the wrought iron fence. They are too busy cracking jokes about some homework. I plump down beside Max and start crunching down on my ovalteenies.…

I remember it all. I can still feel the warm summer wind gliding my sun-kissed cheeks. I didn’t usually have all of my windows down while I drove, especially not on the way to my lackluster burden, otherwise known as my job. Today was an exception, however, summer was quickly approaching its end, and I would be once again bound by the chains of high school. I decided to cherish every little bit that I had left. As I pulled in, I thought to myself, “just another ordinary day of work.” Oh…

My anxiety flutted around in my chest and gripped each breath like a vice. The daunting and steep steps danced in my mind making the simple task of walking up stairs more difficult than the impossible task to run a mile in a minute. Next, a boy pushed the door open behind him almost as an afterthought, but in my chaotic mind it was the best thing all morning to happen. On the dreadful first day of school, chivalry was not dead, or at least that’s how I was able to comprehend his actions. I glanced around unsurely before starting to slowly walk towards the freshman commons; each eye that meets mine screamed enthusiasm.…

Teenagers have behaved in similar patterns for decades. Whether teens have changed their behaviour and habits from the 50’s and 60’s to now, or they simply continued their patterns, is a questionable subject. In my opinion, teenage life right now is just a continuation of teenage life in the 50’s and 60’s. This is a fact because: teens still have similar styles, teens still face the same problems, and their behaviour is still similar. Teenagers haven’t stopped styling their hair in radical ways since the 1950’s, if anything they made hairstyles more outgoing and built on new ones. Clothes are one of the things that have stayed very similar throughout the years. Rock music was very much in style in the 50’s and 60’s since it was brand new. Rock is still ones of most popular genres amongst teenagers. Teenagers have had the same problems throughout history. An example of these problems is relationship problems in “Grease”. The secret relationship between Sandy and Danny creates tension between them. Teen pregnancy is also another problem shown in “Grease”. This problem is still not only happening, but is worse than ever before. Teens are still as rebellious as ever. They still want to prove themselves in races and competitions. Teenagers make a lot of jokes. An example of this in “Grease” occurs when three guys moon the live television. Teenagers today may not do anything that extreme, but they still like to prank…

Today was the day. Packed to the point of bursting open with new notebooks, folders, pens, pencils, and textbooks, he readied me for school. Instead of bouncing around as rambunctious young boys do, he trudged slowly in a peculiar meter of half-steps toward the doorway. He was living a new life in a new school that was filled with people who might as well have been aliens to him.…

The man awakened on the cold ground, strewn in a horrible position across the autumn leaves and grass. His back was to the ground, his limbs spread out, and all he could feel was the pain. It ached all over his body, and an odd sensation came from the head and neck, though he could not describe it. He attempted to scream, groan, or make some noise to relieve his suffering, but none came out. Or rather an unfamiliar, strangled sound emerged, one that was guttural, almost inhuman.…

I remember the first time I stayed awake throughout the night till a beaming light peaked through the window and hit my face like the touch of a baby's hand. Although the morning had risen, the moon had just come up. In the intensity of rushing to school, the need for pleasing others with looks has gone past me. The knots and tangles I feel in my stomach have also reached my hair as I pull parts of my day out of the strands.…

It was an ordinary Friday afternoon, just like other ordinary afternoons. The sun was shining brightly, provoking a yearning within me to enjoy the outdoors. I positioned myself on one of the two wicker lounge chairs. They sat diagonally on the front porch, allowing the perfect angle for me to bask in the daylight. After fidgeting to get comfortable, I cradled my belly while tucking into myself and let the day seize me. Birds chirped high in the trees while a gentle wind rustled the leaves. The sun’s rays embraced me like a warm blanket, leading me into the solitude of my own daydreams.…
