Final Draft “When Life Flashes Right before Your Eyes “

There are many different kinds of accidents in this world, but in this case, mines was a life or death kind of accident. Young people do not understand the meaning of life until they go through a learning experience. It was august 4th 2010 around 10 o’clock was the day I got hit by a car. Being by myself, while this happened then my mom and step dad seeing me in the condition I was in was horrifying. My experience of being hit by a SUV taught me to appreciate life. August 4th was the day I went to New York City from my home in New Jersey to hang out with my friend Taylor. Earlier in the day my mom and step dad was going to New York City also so they gave me a ride to my location which was Mill Bank Community Center in Harlem, NY. Before they actually dropped me off they told me that there were going to be staying in the city late so make sure I take the New Jersey transit bus home by 9. There are two bus locations that can take me home from the city one is the George Washington Bridge. The bus stops at 9 it is the last bus that goes to my house. The second bus location is downtown on 42nd street these buses are later busses that go to my house. They do not stop until 2oclock in the morning. So my bus choice was going to be the 9oclock from the George Washington Bridge. Once I got to Mill Bank I called Taylor so we can meet up.
Taylor -“hello “
Me- “Taylor where are you? I’m here “
Taylor -“where are you? I do not see you “
Me- “I standing by the entrance “
Taylor -“Okay I’m coming out now “
Me “alright “
We hung up and Taylor comes out to the entrance and gets me. As we walk in the gym there where basketball games going on. Everyone always went to the community center to watch all the basketball games in the summer time it was like a hangout spot at the time in the summer. We were

Life is comprised of a series of learning profound learning experiences. On that stands out occurred last year in seventh grade. Two friends and I decided we wanted to try something new, to learn how to play basketball! We made that decision mainly because we wanted to do an activity together for the winter term, and seventh graders didn't have the option of doing the winter school play. We were very hesitant; only one of us had any experience playing basketball, and we didn't think it would be very fun to run up and down a court trying to get a ball in a hoop. Still we kept an open mind and began to learn how to play.…

The book, “Watership Down,” written by English Author Richard Adams, tells an unusual story about a group of talking rabbits in a warner. One of these strange talking rabbits has a vision of the warner be destroyed by something. He apparently has a rabbit brother and they both go talk to the chief rabbit about evacuating from the warner. Their efforts are shortened and fail as the chief is unwilling to listen. The two unusual talking rabbits decide to set out on their own with a small band of rabbits to search for a new home. They travel through dangerous territories until finding a new place to settle. Even though the story line is a little strange the book in all was meaningful and there are many lessons to be learned. The first lesson is to trust and believe in others. The second lesson is that anyone can be a leader. The third lesson is that there is good in all bad. Here let me explain some more.…

Philosopher John Locke once wrote that, “No man ...has a power to hand over their preservation...to the absolute will and arbitrary dominion of someone else”. He meant that the inviolable rights of a people are greater than the demands of a government and his words ring true today. In the modern era people can fight “arbitrary dominion” through democratic election, vocal condemnation, and most controversially civil disobedience. The practice of deliberate defiance has netted much criticism for its seeming disregard for a country’s rule of law. Yet, a free society is one in which people have the power to exercise their rights, and in choosing not to follow unjust laws, they only strengthen a country's institutions.…

Well, as fate would have it, Nick ran into me. The momentum he had on impact, caused me to fall forward, right into a brick wall. I remember the pain running through my arms and face, but nothing hurt as badly as my lip. My first grade teacher came out, and she helped me to the nurse. The nurse called my mother, and told her that I had to go to the hospital. Before my mother got to the school, although she was driving pretty fast, I got to look in the mirror. My upper lip was split open, and did not look pretty. It was bleeding excessively when my mother got to the school. She quickly got me into the car, and we drove off.…

I had a neck brace around my neck and IV’s stuck all in my arms. I started to panic, I was lost, confused and scared. My best friend was there in the ambulance trying to calm me down. But still, all I could think about was the reaction of my parents when they found out what happened. Once we got to the hospital, the paramedics took me to Emergency Care. The doctors ran many tests on me: MRI’s, CAT Scans, and X-Rays, whatever test you can name – they ran on me. As I waited for my results, the doctors came in and explained to me what happened. An intoxicated driver with a gun ran the red light and hit me in a head on collision. The driver not only totaled my mother’s car but also totaled his own car too. The good thing was that he was okay. I didn’t know what to be happier about; the fact that the other driver was fine or that the accident was not my fault. Selfish right? But I’m sure if you were me at the time, you would think the same thing.…

I am so thankful that my dad and I were alright and that no one was injured in the accident. We had gotten a rental car and proceeded with our trip to Florida. I bought a 2005 Volkswagen Jetta when I got settled in and it ended being even nicer than my Volvo ever was. Now, even when bad things happen, I have started to always look for the silver lining. I believe that everything happens for a reason and when something tragic happens, it only means that there is something better in store in the…

One the tow truck finally came and took CoCo, my friend picked my sister and I up from the accident scene and drove us to the hospital. We sat in the waiting room for more than an hour in severe pain, just praying we would be next every time a nurse would come out prepared to call a name. Once we were finally called we were escorted to different hallways due to them not having even one room available. We were in so much pain and only given a cot to wait to be seen by a doctor. After forty-five minutes a doctor finally came, checked me and questioned me resulting in me being sent for x-rays and CAT scans. The results came back and turns out my neck, shoulder, wrist, and back were sprained. The drive back to school at four in the morning was so dreadful with the road being under construction and bumps all down the road. It took almost two months for me to fully recover, which to me was eternity. A few days after the accident, I returned home from school. Being back in Orlando it was time for me to begin working for the summer and realized it was going to be exasperating until I replaced my totaled car. The insurance company gave me back a good amount for a down payment on a new car. But, now it was time to research cars based on miles, color, year, and most definitely an affordable price. I became Déja the car guru with all the research I did on vehicles. Finally a month and half after my accident I found the…

The day I got injured was the day I realized how important it was to wear a helmet to protect me from these injuries. I knew there was a state law declaring anyone the age of fourteen and under are supposed to wear a helmet. So I did a little research on that topic and it said that nearly seventy percent of all serious crashes involve injury to the head or brain. It also said that helmets can prevent these injuries by wearing helmets. I realized…
