When dealing with people in the workplace the image of God needs to be in forefront of one’s mind. Not only will this practice help when being the employer but it will help the employee also. We as man and woman are a representative of God and we must represent God with dignity and respect. Rich, poor, black, or white everyone is worthy of dignity and respect. Each person is an image of God and should be treated equally. For example, George is a homeless man that lives downtown in Chattanooga Tennessee and he frequently visits the court house lawn (where I work). He is way past due for a bath and dresses in men or women clothing, basically whatever he can find to wear. My supervisor is a Christian woman and took it upon herself to reach out to George. This is where the love and integrity comes into play. My supervisor reflected the image of God by lending a helping hand to George. I have watched each employee genuinely express mercy and grace for George without even being asked. Love as described in the essay is very much needed in the workplace. I have found that when a co-worker has a distressed upset customer they should remember to display the image of God. By expressing concern for welfare, unmerited love, and mercy a stressful high emotion situation can be calmed down and resolution can be found. Don’t be afraid to be tender hearted, loving and compassionate towards others. Compassion and business go together as much as jelly and biscuits. To effectively become a unity within the workplace restoration of communion with God is needed. There is no magic instruction book to being a manger. However, with the guidance of God and his written word, knowing the right decision to make will come easier.
