As a dependent, I possess the incredible opportunity to travel the world and experience numerous cultures. Witnessing people who are much less fortunate than myself and the extreme poverty in third world countries such as Vietnam, Thailand, and the Philippines has made me grateful for my opportunities. Being a military child has also brought hardships into my life that have molded my character. Deployed frequently, my father was absent from home regularly and my mother works as a DoD teacher. Their schedules were busy and I felt obligated to become more independent and helpful around the house by taking care of my younger brother. Becoming more responsible and possessing the desire to be a role model, I wanted to showcase the values of responsibility and integrity to him. Of course, being a military child also means making friends and saying goodbye to them often. Consequently, I have developed a strength through all of my transitions that mas made me confident to take on any challenge, adapt to any situation, and succeed in any environment. Attending the Naval Academy would be a challenge that will not only drive me to excellence, but allow me to achieve my
