Newspaper Article - Review (the Iconic)
Free shipping and free returns isn’t an easy promise to make, but The Iconic has managed to grasp the attention of many with promises of high standards, such as these. The Iconic is a famous Australian online store that has been recommended and appreciated by many, but some say negative points about the efficiency of the service.
The general layout of the website is eye-catching and easily navigable. Three separate tabs, women’s, men and kids are separated and narrow down to different type of attire giving the customer an easy route to finding the product easily and efficiently.
Who doesn’t love a good guarantee? The website claims to give free shipping for items over 20 dollars and 100 day return policy. It also states that if you live in Sydney your product may be delivered in 3 hours. These guarantees may seem ‘too good to be true’ but are 100% legitimate, but like everything that is ‘too good to be true’ it has a catch, or conditions rather. 3 hour delivery is only possible between hours 7am to 6pm and cost a 10 dollar fee.
Giving personal details online is a huge risk after thinking about the potential consequences, but The Iconic uses the latest secure banking technology, with VeriSign and NAB Secure. Their encryption is of industry standard which guarantees that your information is safe and secure. They also use well-known payment methods such as MasterCard, AMEX and PayPal, to suit and assure everyone’s needs.
Customers are assured knowing that they are covered by consumer guarantees under the Australian Consumer Law which cannot be excluded. The returning or refunding of goods must be due to faulty or damaged wear and cannot expect refunds for a change of mind. If a good is to be returned it must be with all included parts and consist of all transaction paper work and proof. Goods may be returned if they do not match the claims and promises or when they fail to meet the consumer guarantees.
After the repairing or replacement of your good, you

Angel Chedikah decided to create an online boutique for her final project. The purpose of her online boutique is to make money so Angel had to design a competitive website. While I was looking at Angel’s website, I realized that her online boutique was very similar to the Forever 21 website. The Forever 21 website clearly targets young people who are in their late teens and early twenties and Chedikah’s online store has the same demographics. One of the best features on Chedikah’s website is the college of different outfits because these pictures advertise her products.…

In their mapping of the website, Sassy Fox misleads users in the products they have and fail to keep their goals in mind by making it difficult to access related information. In my opinion, the website would benefit from getting rid of its category-based navigation and adopting Pinterest-style layout. Because there are so few products on the website, allowing users to filter the products they want to see would be more efficient. Also, it would be better to not have the location hyperlinked and make the phone number and address available on both the secondary menu and footer of the…

This is not the case when shopping online with Neiman Marcus. Although consumers still cannot feel the clothing they are purchasing, Neiman Marcus guarantees the consumer will love whatever they are purchasing. If not, Neiman Marcus provides the consumer with a simple free return policy within 15 days of the delivery date for a full refund or credit. This gives the consumers some leeway while shopping online as they then know they will be able to return their items for a full money back guarantee. This is a fantastic marketing plan and a great way for Neiman Marcus to be trusted by their consumers, who will never feel pressured to keep an item they are not 100% satisfied with. This trumps Underhill’s interpretation of online shopping because when a customer is shopping on the Neiman Marcus’ website, they do not feel as if ordering an item means they are stuck with it forever. Underhill also believes that there is not a way for consumers to narrow their choices on the internet (Underhill 230). This is untrue for the Neiman Marcus’ website, which offers many different filters, including color, size, and prices. The website also includes goes even further details such as including sleeve length, dress length and neckline. Their website makes it very easy for the consumer to find exactly what they are…

    Boston Globe Essay

After viewing the two pieces from 20/20 and The Boston Globe, I personally believe the 20/20 television piece to be more effective for a number of reasons. The main issue that I've noticed with visual news is the obvious time constraints that are put on various pieces throughout the broadcast, most often seen on local news stations. Context and nuance is often sacrificed for sensationalism and a preternatural urgency to get as much information across in as little time as possible. However, this wasn't the case in the 20/20 piece, which spent just over six minutes (as opposed to the usual 1.5-3) hashing out the tragic story of a UMass confidential informant who died as an indirect result of questionable school policies. They talked to a multitude…
