which also was an inventor leading Tesla to success. From an early age, it was clear that Tesla was a remarkable kid.
While in high school, he had the ability to perform integral calculus in his head. It was so unusual that his teacher thought he was cheating. He possessed an eidetic memory, which means he could record entire books and images with great detail, a gift which he attributes from his mother. He allegedly used his imagination to temper visions and vivid nightmares that he had as a child. Unsurprisingly, Tesla finished high school early, at age seventeen though Tesla had a brush of death, after contracting Cholera in which he pleaded he might live if his father let him study engineering instead of the plan path of a priest or joining the army. Tesla’s father agreed and miraculously recovered. And the course of history would be changed
forever. Then, Tesla came to America and worked here and there, but then work with Thomas Edison in 1882. Many people today consider Thomas Edison as the father of the light bulb, but he was more on the line of the Steve Jobs of the light bulb. That is, Edison figured out how to improve the light bulb. In 1885, Tesla said that he could redesign Edison’s DC motors and generators which were very inefficient at the time and had a tendency to spark and break down. Edison liked the idea and offered Tesla one million US dollars in today’s currency for the job. Tesla got to work and did as promised fixing all the problems with the motors. The new motors and generators were now simpler, didn’t spark and were much more reliable. When Tesla completed the job, he asked for the money, Edison laughed and stated, “ Mr. Tesla, you do not understand our American humor.” Tesla had just been ripped off and left Edison’s company immediately. Tesla loved humanity, as a humanist, Tesla believed in improving the quality of human life but not for financial gains. Tesla impacted today’s future with his great inventions for human kind in order to make a mans job a little easier. His mother was also an inventor which Tesla coincidentally inherited leading him to success. Tesla’s innovations and contribution to society didn’t receive enough credit as it deserved those inventions are still in use today. Tesla could’ve been a millionaire and possibly billionaire but died poor. Tesla did what he did for the betterment of humanity, to help people have a better quality of life.
