Four year universities, community colleges and vocational training are some of the main options people look at when wanting to further their education. Thompson list some experiments being conducted to help education cost such as at MIT offering free online courses, University of Southern California holding online classrooms across the country, and Western Governors University rewarding students for what they are already knowledgeable about. Thompson claims that things can be changed to improve our education performance. He uses a 2009 McKinsey report which shows “if we raised our education performance to the level of Korea, we could improve the US economy by more than $2 trillion” (454). He also suggest improving teacher techniques because a good teacher can provide more knowledge that will help them obtain a higher level of accomplishment sometime in life to earn more money.
