Nurse Manager Interview
The Interview- Nurse Manager According to Wilkes University (2017), the role of nurse manger can be very rewarding. They report that 90 percent of nurse managers are happy in their role. Nurse Managers work in all different types of locations in the medical profession. The role of a nurse manager can be challenging. They run the day to day operations of their departments. Their job description includes recruiting/hiring staff and making sure staff are trained and educated. They manage department budgets, work with doctors, patients and handle complaints and issue with in the department. During this time they have to stay up date with the latest changes in the nursing field as well as assessing and responding to the needs of their staff. Each nurse manager has their own strengths and weaknesses in their role. In this paper we will discuss the results of an interview which took place with a young nurse manger. In this interview the nurse manager shared her strengths and weakness.

Staffing shortages, recruiting efforts and retaining nurses is just a beginning of the day to day challenges that nurse managers have to deal with. This role has responsibilities to many people and duties to numerous to count. After this interview my views on management and leadership have not changed. It is easy to recognize that this is a time consuming demanding job. In comparing leadership styles with that of Samantha our leadership styles are similar. She enjoys working with a variety of people from all walks of life. She enjoys her position as a nurse manager and enjoys helping others. She faces challenges with a smile on her face. When dealing with her staff she likes to build meaningful relationships and empower her staff by seeking out their opions and input on things that are happening in the department. She makes every attempt to connect with staff and

    On the surface it is reasonable to deduce that management manages and leadership leads however Burn’s research led him to conclude two distinctively different approaches which are transformational leadership and transactional leadership. The transactional module appears more suited to the role of management as, in its simplest form, is built on the principle of give and take.
