Nursing Assistant Personal Statement
As a nursing assistant I am required to work together with fellow nursing assistants, nurses, therapists and doctors to provide care to patients and ensure safety. For instance, recently at the nursing home where I work, a patient was declared unresponsive. However with the help of my co-workers we effectively worked as a team to stabilize the patient until further medical help arrived. During this incident I was responsible for calling for help, obtaining the crash cart that possess and performing CPR. I am honored to say that I successful aided in the procedures necessary to regaining ones consciousness.
I believe that the golden rule in life is “treat others how you want to be treated,” while the platinum rule is “treat people how they want to be treated.” I say that to say this; good service is imperative to a patient and as a PCT I will assume the responsibility of ensuring that every patient is given quality care.

During high school I met a student who had no intentions on going to college due to financial issues. However, I knew that he was a very intelligent man and had the potential to achieve great things. So I encouraged him to apply for multiple scholarships and I informed him of the numerous financial assistance options that are available. Luckily, he took my advice and decided to work towards funding his college career. As of today he is currently enrolled in a community college and looks forward to graduating next

If it were not for scholarships and financial aid, my mother’s story would be repeated once again. Through financial aid, the door for a college career is opened for me and I’m willing to enter it. "Make a difference today for someone who is fighting for their tomorrow"-Jim Kelly. Noting that this was a necessity to have, yet so scarce, I decided that being a health care provider was the career for me. I grew up always surrounded by the health care setting; my mother was a Lab Technician who worked with several Physician Assistants. Alpha Mansaray Family Nurse Practitioner Program Wilmington University Statement of Goals As a child growing up in country of Sierra Leone during times of civil unrest, I watched my grandmother who lacked the ability to read and write care of an entire village of people because of the compassion she had for she fellow Africans. As she is much older now and no longer resides in Sierra Leone, she always reminds me of her story every now and then of how a young African girl without the ability to read or write was chosen by the U.N. and trained in the field of nursing, and with the amount of knowledge she acquired from them she was able to save countless lives during times of civil war. This passion has been passed down from generation to generation with my mother becoming and nurse and I, myself following in their footsteps and becoming part of the profession. There has always been a yearn within me to enter a profession such as nursing where I could provide compassionate care to those that may be going through uncertain times, and to one day return to Sierra Leone and have the ability to provide care to thousands of my fellow Africans that may not have access to healthcare.…

“Quack! Quack!” she exclaimed. “Yes it is bath time!” I replied as I gave my patient her nightly bath at my very first job as a nursing assistant for disabled adults. I remember initially being so excited to learn new procedures, medications and diseases. However, what I ultimately valued most during this experience was forming trusting, ongoing relationships with my patients (and learning that “Quack” meant bath!). The inimitable bond formed caring for these individuals motivated me to seek out a career in which I can provide meaningful and personalized care over time. The unit that I work on serves a broad spectrum of patients: from intensive care, psyche, detox, and post-op, to hospice care and rehabilitation. From a young age, I have excelled as a healthcare professional, and working as a CNA, I can definitely say my experience has been life changing.…

On Nov. 9, 2015 it was about five minutes till 11:00 P.M. and the girls from D2 dorm were really loud. The girls upstairs were running through the halls, yelling, pounding, and also blasting their music really loud. I wanted to log a complaint with your office, due to the fact that the noise in the dorms is keeping me from getting the rest I need and sidetracking me from really taking advantage of my training. I wanted to alert you as well as my Resident Assistant’s as to what is occurring so that I can be able to get the rest I need, so that I can be rested for receiving the training I need to be prepared for the job.
