Observation Of David Constancio's Reaction In High School
At approximately 3:45 I, David Constancio, was called into the cafeteria by the 4th/5th Grade Team Leader, Duc-Huy Nguyen to assist with a student. When I arrived in the cafeteria I observed Jocelyn Elizarraras crying while being comforted by her classmates. The TL explained that the boys were being disrespectful towards Jocelyn and she became upset and grabbed a “spork” from the supper and attempted to “stab” her wrist. Another students yelled out, “Jocelyn is trying to kill herself!” I took Jocelyn into the staff lounge where I asked her to first calm down and take a few deep breaths. I spoke with Jocelyn about what happened and ask questions in regards to her trying to self-harm. She explained to me that she was not trying to commit suicide and that she was fine. I asked her why she would do this and her reply was, “I just thought that if I felt a little bit of pain I would stop feeling sad about being teased by the boys.” I express that we value her and want her to be safe and care about her. …show more content…

Jocelyn return to class and finished out the day with the TL keeping a close eye on her while I called my area specialist Adrian Williams and spoke with the school’s Principal, Ellen Lee-Carlson. Adrian and I decided the best thing was for him to contact district representatives regarding this matter and I would follow up with the parents. Principal Lee and I decided to look into what lead up to the event and see if we can resolve that issue as well. I spoke with all parties involved and parents and will follow up tomorrow with everyone to determine the best course of action. Jocelyn’s mother and I spoke regarding my concerns and she will be speaking with Jocelyn about what happened and will attempt to get answers I was unable to get. Mom appreciated the offer to have district services but mentioned that she is a state worker and have many resources at her

On April 21st, School Resource Officer of Great Oak High School, Israel Sosa, made a police report upon an allegation of suspect Brandon Trinh carrying a knife on school campus. Upon further investigation, Brandon admitted to carrying a pocket knife with a 3’’ blade for several months for the sole purpose of intimidation against the bullies in his JROTC class and had reportedly stated he “only showed one other student.”. Despite the multiple school counselors on site, Trinh acknowledged his mistake in not informing one. Although his demeanor against the bullies was in a defensive way, the intimidation tactic itself…

Starting an after school program for bullying victims as well as students who feel that bullying is ok to do. They can come and talk about the problems they are encountering in school, and outside of school. Also, it is very vital to include the parents, teachers and staff in the experiences of the program so they can come and talk with their children/students as well as other children going through the same thing. Having never been a victim of bullying, but living in a small community now as well as being from a small community prior there was a few kids who have committed suicide from being bullied. It’s hard for people in small communities as well as larger communities to understand what would push a kid to the point where they feel that taking their own lives is the right answer to the problem. Now those kids have no voice in this matter and are not able to share their story a program like this would be able to help kids understand the effects of bullying as well as the impact it has on family, friends and the community. Having read a few articles, one of which was A Mother’s Plea: Stop The Bullying by Shoya Bowman, this article talks about a mom whose daughter was being bullied at school and her mom was able to catch the small warning signs that her daughter was giving whether she knew it or not. In the article she states, “Sometimes, we as parents miss the signs that are right under our noses as we attempt to make a living and better our situations for our families” (Bowman, 2013). Being able to educate parents on what signs to look for, as well as, to educate kids on what signs to look for if their friends are being bullied or are bullying other kids so they can help them get through it or be there as a support system for one another. With this program the vision is to get the parents to know what signs to look for if their…

“A sixth-grade student, Julia, has been enrolled at your school, of which you are the principal, for about three months. Julia is prone to brief, disruptive outbursts in class and has had trouble getting along with her teachers and classmates. She also has difficulty paying attention in class and does not sit still during tests and quizzes. Julia has an IEP, which includes a behavior plan. Just after Julia’s teacher passes out a quiz, Julia jumps up from her desk and runs around the classroom shouting profanities. In the process of running around the room, a marijuana joint falls out of Julia’s pocket. Campus security is called to restrain Julia, and she soon identifies another student from a different classroom, Marcus, as having given her the drugs earlier that day.”…

About 1 year ago I saw a story on the news that really caught my attention. It was the story of Becca Robinson, who is in 3rd Form at Verchilds High. Although she was described as “Fatty” who enjoyed spending time with her friends and family, since 1st Form Becca had been seeing a Psychiatrist and taking medications for attention and deficit disorder and depression and she also considered herself overweight. In 2012, shortly after Becca had fallen out with one of her friends for allegedly spreading rumors about this friend Samantha Browne, the mother of this former friend along with and a co-worker, decided to make a fake Facebook account assumed to be the account of Jaden Smith. To get information about Becca to humiliate her later, as retaliation. Shortly after creating the account, Samantha send a friend request to Becca supposedly from Jaden. Becca and Jaden became online friends but never met in person. Becca had found Jaden to be very attractive and began messaging him. This Jaden person who claimed to have just moved to Old Road, was being home schooled and didn’t have a phone yet, had lifted Becca’s spirit. 1 month after, Jaden’s tone changed saying “I don’t want to be friends with you anymore because I’ve heard that you are not nice to your friends. The same messages were sent, some of Becca’s messages to Jaden were shared with others and bulletins were posted about her. The last message from Jaden read, everybody in Verchilds High know who you are, you are a bad person and everybody hates you. Have a bad rest of your life, the world would be a better place without you. Becca responded, “You’re the type of boy a girl would kill herself over,” about twenty minutes later Becca was found in her bedroom closet where she had hung herself, and despite efforts to revive her, she was pronounced dead the next day. This cruel prank that was played on Becca is known as…
