a norm violated and I just stared at her. She was wearing all black, hair dyed black, black makeup with fake teardrops drawn on her cheeks. Everyone that was in the store at this time just looked at her and was wondering the same thing that I was. I didn’t know if she just wanted the attention, but every time that she would catch someone looking at her, she would give them the nastiest look ever. This look told me that she didn’t want anyone looking at her, but why in the world would she dress like this if she didn’t want anyone to look at her? Just shortly after seeing the girl in black, in walks another violating norm.
Thinking in my head that I picked the perfect day to do my observations! In walks a couple with their four children. As soon as the children enter into our doors, it’s like a zoo in our store. They run around knocking everything off the shelves, yelling, and chasing each other around. You would think that everyone would be staring at the kids, but that was not the case in this instance. Instead of staring at the children, people are staring at the parents. The parents are making the racket, but they should be the ones stopping it. I bring it on myself to tell them to stop because this just drives me crazy. This norm is not very unusual because you see this at a lot of public places that you …show more content…
go. While out eating at a nice sit down restaurant our waitress comes to our table and asks what we would like to drink.
The words that came out of her mouth didn’t know sound anything close to what she wanted to ask us. This lady was foreign and didn’t speak English very clearly. This can get very frustrated for some people trying to order their food. I know when you have to spend more time trying to understand someone than you spend on picking out what you would like to eat, this could make someone very angry! These norms is becoming more and more accepted because there are so many foreigners in our country and unless you want to starve then you have to try to understand them. If I would violate any of the norms that are mentioned above than I would expect to get the reactions that these people get. It someone saw me walking into school with all black and dyed my hair black, and had that kind of make up on, I think that I would get enough looks to make me want to go home and change. I don’t think that I would be able to violate the norms because I just don’t like people thinking of me in a bad manner. I also don’t like people to stare at me everywhere I go that would drive me
crazy. In today’s world you see norms being violated more everyday. You go to a high school and you will have your little groups that will all dress and act the same. As long as there is someone else out there that dresses like them then they may think that it is normal because they are not the only one that is dressed that way. Many people judge others by their standards of what they live by. Could you imagine what the world would be like if we didn’t do this? This world would be a whole different place.
