October filming includes highlighting major events
This year, compared to others, will have an epic presidential election reflection. Not only does
this mean that variety shows focusing on the holidays need to be done before the election (or after), as there will be such a reflection on the moment, there will be a presidential feel too. Shows are keeping relevant by given references to the current political climate. Fans are offered tidbits of what has happened in the real world as they keep engaged with the show. Add that there are so many political based shows, both drama and reality, that these details are essential for a solid viewership. It's necessary to infuse what is happening and there is nothing bigger than the upcoming election. Once a president is picked, there will be references to whomever is expected to fill the office.
October filming doesn't stop there. The other big hoopla seen around town is holiday specials. Technically, these would have been called Christmas specials 10 years ago, but now they are labeled with a more generic term. This broadens the viewing audience AND if offers a chance for the specials to air anytime from Thanksgiving to New Year's Eve. In fact some of those New Year's Eve specials we watch are currently filming segments for the musically performances as the talent comes to town on tour.
Overall, there is much work to be done when it comes to October filming. Perhaps that is why everyone is scurrying around this month!
