Maycomb’s favorite pet, Tim Johnson, was fatally shot by Atticus Finch in February. When Mr. Finch’s children saw a rabid dog wandering the street, they told their cook, Calpurnia. Calpurnia said she alerted the neighborhood of the maddog. Jem Finch said Tim was, ”Moseying along” and added that Tim’s shoulders were hunched and his torso was twitching when he last saw him. When Mr. Heck Tate and Mr. Finch arrived, they decided to wait until they had a good shot at the dog to shoot.
