Abstract

Garcia, Gretchen A. “Online Research Repository for Urdaneta City University”, Master in Information Technology, Institute of Graduate Studies, Colegio de Dagupan, Dagupan City, December 2013.

Adviser: Terry Ann C. Cayabyab, MAM, MIT The study focused on the design and development of Online Research Repository for Urdaneta City University. Specifically, it sought to: identify the existing theses and dissertations management procedures; identify the hardware and software requirement of the system; identify the features of the system; test the acceptability of the system; and describe the developed system. The developer used rapid application development model with phases like requirements planning, user design, construction, and cut-over. Stakeholders’ participation was sought to gather the requirements. After which the elicited requirements were converted to UML designs. These serve as guide in the development of the system. The acceptability of the system was tested on various dimensions such as usability, reliability, performance, maintainability and security dimensions.

INTRODUCTION

Background of the study
Research is important. It provides truth about history, solves problems, and molds the future by introducing new discoveries and inventions to make life easier and more enjoyable. According to Vesagas (2011), research is designed to advance knowledge of a certain discipline. Furthermore, immersion with research had been proven as a means of acquiring better ways of living.
Most researches are done in universities by students pursuing a degree in different disciplines. Research is classified as either thesis or dissertation depending on the level of student who conducted it. Thesis is basically one of the essential requirements for students to graduate.
