I have always been a visual learner, although I did not realize the technical term for my condition as a child, once I became an educator and became aware of the various ways to classify learners based on their abilities and learning style, I quickly discovered who I was and was able to classify myself accordingly. Visual learners are more inclined to gain knowledge through physical interaction and hands on experience with tools they can see, rather than through verbal instructions or explanations. However, it has been my experience that all types of learners find visual aids helpful, even f they are just used as supplemental information to enhance the knowledge they gained through verbal communication. It seems to be especially bad during the winter months. On the days when their skin is irritated, showing symptoms of excema, I pay extra attention during bath time. I oatmeal and Shea Natural’s Baby Body Wash in their bath water and I wash their skin with a gentle sponge. The final factor that comes into play is their father’s work schedule. His work hours vary and are very unpredictable. He works 6 days a week and on any given night he can cone home anywhere between 7 to 11pm. The children usually try to stay up to see him before they “allow themselves” to fall asleep. If he arrives home at a decent time and the children are still awake, they get a chance to spend time with him after he has taken his shower.
