Otto Frank (father of Anne Frank) decided to go into hiding after realizing that the Germans were going to catch them and send them off somewhere. He decided to hid inside of his own office building. There was one room that couldn’t be seen from the outside. There was only one entrance inside that room. The next day the Frank’s put on as many clothes as they could and start to head to his office. Their lunch would begin around 1:00pm because that’s when the news started on the radio. At 1:45pm the workmen returned to the office and they need to be quite once again. They used the mostly asleep. After 5:30pm people in the office headed home and they could do whatever they wanted. Anne Frank called this time “nightly freedom” in her dairy. They played games and did things what families would usually do. They still learned like they did in school. The fathers brought school books for them to study in their free time. They would read books that Meip brought every weekend. There was a lack of privacy in the annex. They shared rooms with people. I don’t think Peter shared a room with anyone because it was too small. Since this happened during World War 2 they didn’t have a lot of food. They mostly ate potatoes, green beans, and kidney beans. Sometimes they needed to eat rotten food. Just imagine yourself eating those types of food. They had two cats that would eat the rats that they saw in the annex. They would eat dinner when the news was on.
