Slowly inching towards it, my breath got caught in my throat. The splotch was becoming clearer until about twenty-five yards away. When my gaze met its cold, dark eyes. I knew it was a grizzly bear I was staring at. It was the first time the bear had seen me since I saw it. Instantly I stood there paralyzed with confused terror. Silently standing there I could feel the fog closing in on me. I had no idea what to do,but stand there. I was daunted by the bear’s exceedingly long, sharp claws. The bear was creeping towards me very slowly which worried me. When the bear was ten feet away it felt like my heart was going to burst out of my chest. I felt the goosebumps start in my toes and go all the way to my neck. The bear was about five feet away when I could feel its breath on my open skin. He had shot the bear in the back, a clean shot. When I turned to thank the boy he was gone. Just like that he was gone. He just vanished. I pondered where he could have gone. Someone who didn’t even know me stabbed another being for me, but someone who knows me can stab me right in the back with words. I was determined to find this boy. He was my now only friend. I didn’t even know his name and I trusted him with my life. I meticulously searched the surrounding woods for him or any other sign of life, but came up with nothing. I decided it was time to go home. When I got home my parents were sitting at the table. Around the corner I found the boy and two people who looked like what might be his parents. It turned out they were family friends my parents had never told me about. In the woods the boy didn’t even know about our family’s past.
