Did you know that years of training in youth sports has caused overuse injuries? If you play one sports five days a week year round you might cause an injury. In recent years overuse injuries have risen making up half of all sports related injuries among kids and teens. Under pressure kids are playing harder and they won’t stop when they are hurt. Overuse injuries can do more than affect your game; they can affect your life. The problems in youth sports today include overuse injuries and heartbreak, but playing different sports can help bring back the joy.
Many kids feel pressure under their coach and teammates so when they get hurt they might not admit it. You could miss an entire season
or end your sports career, or even ruin your ability to run and jump. Under pressure to keep up with their peers kids start playing harder practicing more and narrowing their focus to a single sports. "Kids used to play baseball in the spring, basketball in the winter, and soccer in the fall, which exposed them to a variety of movements.” Some athletes that get injured will think that the pain will go away. Playing different sports instead of just one can solve the problem with overuse injuries and can bring back the joy.
