P5 Unit 3 Business Plan
Executive Summary:
Cadenza is a small limited business created and managed by me, Rivea Jefferson, as an attempt to help people who are lacking the knowledge in music to be able to compose beautiful pieces of music to play alongside their own work. This could help game developers achieve the next level of wonder within their games, or could help to create a pleasant atmosphere for people to ride in an elevator in.
The company provides music composition services to anyone who makes requests with the small fee of only £5 for every minute of composition produced, alongside other deals that may be more suitable for some clients. The company only initially needs £750 to get started and will only produce instrumental tracks. With the help …show more content…
My running loss would initially only be for the computer software, as everything else can be done from home. I won’t need to worry about renting fees, or paying for licences.
Estimating that I take me an hour to write one minute of music, it could potentially mean I would start making a profit after 150 hours of work. Considering the average song is approximately 3mins long this would mean I would need 50 customers. This could take anywhere between one month, to a year depending on how much people would want to use my service.
What new skills may I need to develop?
New skills I may need to develop are my time manageability skills and being flexible with work hours. Some customers may need work doing quickly. It also wouldn’t hurt to improve on my music theory skills so I can understand complex harmonies and writing for multiple instruments.
Are there any large risks that need to be thought about?
There aren’t many risks involved, as I would be composing normally anyway, however I will be guaranteed to be paid if I was given a request to compose from my business. The biggest real issue is piracy, this is a hard to combat – however if I licence my music correctly, and provide evidence of my ownership toward a piece of music, I will successfully reduce the effects that piracy will have on my
