PBUSE Case Study
The Property Book Officer (PBO) has the ultimate responsibility of property accountability throughout the organization. In order to do this successfully the PBO utilizes Property Book Unit Supply Enhanced (PBUSE), which is an Army web-based combat support property accountability system. It replaced both legacy systems Standard Property Book-Redesign (SPBS-R) and the Unit Level Logistics System S-4 (ULLS-S4) in 2002. PBUSE can operate in two modes, stand alone and web-based, however, the preferred method is web based operations. This is accomplished through a local area network (LAN) or a Very Small Aperture Terminal (VSAT). This is a view only access section for unit level personnel. This section includes authorizations, administrative adjustment report, asset adjustments, and lateral transfers. The Modification Table of Organization and Equipment (MTOE) is an organizations authorization document. This document is automated and pushed to PBUSE from the Logistics Support Activity (LOGSA) whenever there is an update. The PBO has the ability the view and update certain authorizations. The administrative adjustment report process is used to change serial/registration/lot numbers, create assemblies, or record disassemblies and post those adjustments to the activity register. Asset adjustments process is used to increase and decrease on hand quantities of material items on the property book. The lateral transfer process is used to transfer material items from one Unit Identification Code (UIC) to another …show more content…
Property managers at echelons above brigades are able to see property books with excess equipment or shortages of equipment and make decisions on where to move equipment across the Army. Commanders and Property Book Officers are able to make better decisions within their own units based off the real time data and better output report. The Supply Support Activity (SSA) is the warehouse where property book officers and unit supply managers received equipment ordered. The SSA would provide statuses of items as in the warehouse or on back order. The statuses were real time through SFTP since moving to PBUSE and were no longer given by
