PLUS Ethical Decision Making Model
If there is no trust, there can be little productive business activity (Ruddell, 2004). Leaders play a great role to assure goals are carried out to establish an effective ethics program. They are accountable for implementing an operational compliance program in the corporation. Next, another goal of an ethics program is to assure that the employees are meeting the performance standards of completing tasks in the organization. When workers complete their responsibilities with honor and integrity, it creates a great name for the organization and the services they provide. According to the PLUS Ethical Decision Making Model, there are seven steps to ethical decision making which includes defining the problem, seek out relevant assistance, guidance, and support, identify alternatives, evaluate the alternatives, make the decision, implement the decision, and evaluate the decision. These decisions should also assist the employees to address legal and governing issues in which they may face. Employees should exhibit proper behavior that reflects moral conduct. Organizations should place leaders in authority that encourages a culture of fulfillment. Leaders should be held responsible to regard highly the mission, values, and principles of an organization. They should generate values for the employees within the organization. Leaders at all stages must role model accountability. Integrity and ethics are essential standards. When these values are not implemented, it is impossible to build a relationship of trust between individuals. Integrity indicates completeness between a person actions and words. (Proverbs 2:20-21 English Standard Version) States, “So you will walk in the way of the good and keep to the paths of the righteous. For the upright will inhabit the land, and those with integrity will remain in it”. If an individual rent or live in an apartment building, they try not to break the building rules, therefore, we must not violate God standards in our business and professional lives. In viewing integrity, we should always try to keep our promises and agreements and act with sincerity. We should strive for consistency of thoughts and actions. In (2 Timothy 2:15 English Standard Version) states, “Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth.” God will examine what type of worker we are, and we should shape our lives on the word of God. Our abilities should be to maintain and improve our professional proficiency and knowledge through enhancing our education and learning. In (Micah 6:8 ESV), God always requires his people to be just, merciful and walk humbly with him. We should always treat everyone fairly when dealing with them, and grant mercy to people who have mistreated us. God wants us to humble ourselves that he will be glorified in our life.
