83% of juniors at South St. Paul Secondary High School complain about their teachers, schoolwork, and the lack of a social life due to IB classes. On Thursday, the 11th grade students at South St. Paul High School all cheered and yelled as the bell rang at 2:35 for the day to be over and a three-day weekend to begin. As the students quickly rushed to their lockers, grabbed their backpacks and ran out the school, we overheard conversations of plans for the week. We stopped to speak to a girl clearly on a mission to get home. As we walked quickly behind her, she said loudly, “I’m sick and damn tired of all these people I just want to go home and watch Netflix for three days!” She then sped up and ran away from us.…

When all the kids sigh and all the teachers slightly grumble, I can pinpoint who has just walked through the door. Some days she goes by queen, other days diva, but I just call her Isabella. Isabella is a third grader that attends Seminole Heights Elementary School. She has a reputation of stealing clay and mats during art time. She has even stolen money from her so called best friend Kelci and when asked why she stole it, her rationale was “she should have been paying attention.” She doesn’t limit her actions to the students, she also disrespects the Instructors art by touching it and even painting her work with-out her permission. I am speaking about a third grader. This is a child that should know better and do better. But yet, she acts nothing like any of her peers in the class. I contend that the Permissive nature of parents ultimately influenced Isabella to lack self-control (Influences on Self Control, pg.353).…

"It's eight a clock in the morning, and I just rolled out of bed. Today, Thursday is a late start at North Farmington High School. I am wide-awake and ready to start school due to the eight hours of sleep I got last night," said one student. Another student told her story, but the only difference was the day she told her story it was not a late starts. "I feel horrible. I had to wake up at 6:00 a.m. so that I had enough time to shower before school. I fell asleep in my first two classes, and I could blame this on the sleep I got last night; or should I say the lack of sleep- only 6 hours." Students would perform better if school started at a later time.…
