Pancake Descriptive Writing
Every morning when I wake up I let the monster, little Mr. Mittens our cat, out of his bedroom, make Folgers coffee, whip out a pair of non-stick pans, crack open the package of apple wood smoked bacon, and make blueberry pancakes. The smell is so overwhelmingly delightful that it has become something I enjoy dearly. Today, I have yet to realize, is a little different than most days. After I’ve had my fill of coffee, Applewood smoked bacon, and blueberry pancakes I notice that the wonderful aromas are fading. Shortly after I dropped my dishes off at the dishwasher I headed back over to the couch to start reading books and doing my homework. After a while I slowly get up out of my “command center” as my girlfriend Jackie calls it and head out of the living room and walk into the dining room. I stop and think to myself its looks quiet in the kitchen, too quiet, I wonder where that little monster is at, He’s usually grazing over his dish at this time. So, I started slowly moving through the dining room to the …show more content…
Mitten’s head buried deep in the sink. He must have heard me and peered over the edge of the counter. Then it happened our else locked in a deep stare and I’m thinking, uh oh, you’re in big trouble now Mr. and I hollered “BAD KITTY!” I don’t exactly know what was going through his head at the time but I can make an educated guess. Something along the lines of OH CRAP!!! What do I do now? As usual, he doesn’t get any traction on the countertop and burns out, as if he has wheels, like a fifteen hundred horsepower dragster. As he tries to plan his escape in a split second, he sees that there is only one option and that’s to try and get around me. He thinks he’s the greatest and fastest feline ever to roam the earth but it’s my job to prove otherwise. Sure enough, he tries drift around the island in the middle of the kitchen and spins out, right into my hands. At this point I have a pretty good grip on him and pick him up and

Ordinarily, the sun’s light captured everything in sight like a mother hugging a child and giving it warmth. From the dark oak bed, I rose because of the unpleasant bites of mosquitoes. The Civil War is always on my mind. After a most successful battle yesterday when our soldiers all left home, relief and happiness came to mind, for there was a chance that we would win. Consequently, that would explain the surge of energy running through my body after waking up. Starting off with breakfast, I walked to my kitchen, the wood underneath my feet start to creak. The closer I walked to the kitchen, the warmer and cozier the atmosphere became. My servant, Julia, prepared breakfast for me today similar to many other days, I always wonder what will breakfast will be. Fresh eggs from my brown feathered hens were soft surrounded by creamy goat cheese, and well-cooked toast was on the plate this morning. Enjoying the meal is a morning ritual,…

This is my cat ‘‘Buttercup’’. You might wonder: Why that name? Well, when I founded him, it was unavoidable to match his muddy yellow coat with the bright flower. He had a mashed-in nose, half of one ear missing and eyes the color of rotting squash. According to my older sister, Katniss, Buttercup was the world’s ugliest cat but it did not matter, because I knew that in the bottom of her heart she was starting to love him. Besides, he was a great help at home, for he was a born mouser. So, we did not have vermin problems anymore. Furthermore, Buttercup was very special for me; he made me feel safe when I had nightmares during the…

Thirsty I made my way towards the kitchen to pour myself a glass of Cranberry Pomegranate juice. Sitting around what’s left of the dining room table one of its hinges obliterated merely three table legs left as a support. A branch from the oak tree near the kitchen window kept tapping against the walls and windows as the wind blows. This branch at night when the murky moonlight blooms against the massive tree meticulously resemble an oversized man with a knife trying to break into the house. I often dreaded coming down the stairs for a cup of water or juice late at night when the lights were off. The terrified image and screeches sound on the window always send me scurrying right back to my room and ducking under the covers trembling for dear…

On one Sunday evening, the fiery smell of smoked paprika and the tangy zest infiltrates through the kitchen, mildly going far as to saunter towards the living room. My sister half-yells half-cries at the sudden onslaught, as she scurries off to her room, grumbling under her breath about having just showered a while ago, and how she has work the next day.…

I gazed up into the bleak morning sky and viewed the wafts of smoke, anything to take my mind off what was to come. The sound of the landing craft’s engines revved up indicating we were on our final approach. I gripped my Thompson and carefully glanced over it. The functionality of this gun could mean life or death for me and so it received my dearest attention. Suddenly the ear shattering sound of the big .50 caliber machine gun opened up on our boat. Immediately thereafter, the screech of a whistle permeated the air, and the front of the boat began lowering.…

In the wee hours of the morning my life is the embodiment of a living, breathing dichotomy. Awakening with a wry little smile on my face, I knew I had dreamed of the river, big brown trout, and sweet 3wt bamboo rods. My body screams – “Where’s the coffee”, while my brain questions the sanity of getting up this early on a Saturday. Oblivious to the cacophony, the hairs on the back of my neck tingle. Betraying logic, they forewarn that this pre-dawn moment was the premonition of a great day ahead.…

As soon as I opened the door the stench of overcooked vegetables, overuse of hand sanitizers and urine overwhelms me. Most assume that I would be used to the smell by now, but one thing I can never adjust to is the odor of a nursing home. I check in at the front desk and make my way to room 108, to see my beloved father. Hearing the sound of the old wooden door creak he turns and greets me with the slightest hint of a smile, but even this is now hard work for him. The light glistens on the medals hanging off his chest and almost weighs him down as attempts sit up- but I rest my hand on his shoulder to stop him, and lay him back down.…

Rocketing across the water, the beach and sky blur into one. But in my mind everything is still, even calm in fact. My eyes dart around. I see men. Pain and panic fill their eyes. Some tremble as if catching a fever. Other soldiers clutch on to their weapons as if gripping onto their mother’s hand when learning how to walk. Some soldiers drink from their canteens, as if it’s the last drink to enter their bodies. I feel my heart race, blood pump through my veins. The Captain yells, “30 seconds! Good luck, men. May God be with you and I’ll see you on the beach!”…

The other day I woke ever so confused. I did not see anything confusing. I was simply just confused as to what had happened yesterday. I got up out of bed and stumbled to the kitchen. I was walking around and go myself a bowl a bowl of cereal. As I sat down at the counter, I began to think about what had happened yesterday. Once I had finished my cereal, I walked to the sink and set the bowl in there. I than looked out the window and everything started to come back to me. I seen a electric scooter, a penguin with a collar on it, and a Butterfinger wrapper. My mind suddenly became flushed with memories of what had happened with these three random objects.…

We walked up the stairs and I felt a chill go through my bones, I started to count the blue fuzzy steps that were stained brown with coffee stains. You could see the dull boring white paint with flakes that pointed out the chipping and revealed the age of the building. The smell of lemon and lavender hit me like a wave in the ocean crashing onto the shore. We eventually reached the top of the stairs and approached the purple door with a white flakey knob, and as she turned it you could hear it squeak and then finally stop as she revealed a perfectly polished pink room. A carpet was laid on the ground it was so orange and soft that I kept myself seated on the ground admiring the carpet as I briskly, yet lightly, brushed my fingertips across it. All of a sudden my thought were interrupted by the sound of a snip. It took me a while to register what was going on, but as soon as I saw the long brown curl on the delicate carpet I felt myself cringe. I continued to sit there as lifeless as my fallen hair on that beautiful carpet. It felt like torture sitting there with all my words stuck in my throat; it was as if I never even had…

It was a dark spooky Halloween night, I had just finished watching Spookley, the Square Pumpkin. After a long night of handing out non-poisoned candy to weird staggering tots at my doorstep, I felt it was time to turn off the light. Walking to my room, I tripped on something slimy, being dismissive, I labeled it as my long lost sweater and threw it in the hamper. The corridor to my room seemed longer than usual this night, my steps seemed louder, offbeat almost. I quickly looked behind me, no one was there. Picking up my pace, the steps sounded closer, faster. Detecting my room door, I flew in and shut the door. with my back turned towards it. I’m panting, out of breath. Turning away the cover to my bed, I saw it. It was…
