Toxic Love by Tomas Guilin tells the story of Steven Roy Harper and the Murder by Cancer case that shook Omaha, Nebraska in 1978. Duane Johnson awoke one September Sunday morning with intentions of painting his family’s newly purchased 768 square feet home. He always dreamed of owning a big house of his own one day to share with his family. Since Duane grown up in a broken home where his parents fought almost every day he always wanted to have a functional household where he would raise his children. Sandy was such an amazing women, he knew from the day that he met her that they would be together forever. They were different in age Duane was 2 years older them Sandy but they both attended the same high school. Sandy the head cheerleader never imagined herself with a guy like Duane; he was shy quite guy who had always stayed to himself.
She dated Steven Roy Harper who was of course captain of the football team he was the all-American boy but Sandy knew that wasn’t the guy she wanted to spend the rest of her life with. After Graduating high school Duane and Sandy started dating and by their second year of college they had decided to get married and start a family soon purchasing the first family home. Duane dreamed of buying their home in the hometown he was so excited when he begins to paint and start a new chapter with Sandy and children.
Everyone was so excited to have Sandy and Duane back in town they had decdeied to have a family dinner inviting Sandy parents, Duane Brother and his wife and Sandy Siblings. Many of them came stay the night before since they had a guest room. They stayed up all-night talking with each other playing catch up about what going on in Omaha. Sandy sister had heard that Steven Harper Sandy’s old high school boyfriend had never gotten over the breakup. She hadn’t seen Steven in years but people had been saying he looked bad and took their breakup hard. Sandy felt bad
