paperbook vs ebook
Paperbook vs. Ebook
I'm not tech savy, so I prefer paperbooks to ebooks
Paperbooks
You don't have to adjust their brightness, worry about reflections, or buy a new model that magically allows you to read without the bother of relfections. Paperbooks are simply more comfortable to read. As long as you have light, you can read a paperbook. The only time I have found myself without light and unable to read a book is during a car ride at night. How fast can you go from cover to cover with a paperbook? Well how fast can you turn a book over? It's that easy. No scrolling pages or clicking tabs. Your eyes move along the page and when they reach the end you can simply slide your thumb one eighth of an inch over and let the tension of the binding turn the page for you. They're that easy to flip through. When your a student in college you do almost anything to save money, so that you can spend more money, an oxymoron no? We thrive on Raman, carpool with our friends, and where do we buy our school books? Either a resell website or store. We don't care about the condition, we care about who's selling it for the lowest price, and after the semester is over there are places that want to buy it from you. It's like getting a slightly smaller tax return.
Ebooks
Ebooks are the now of the American way: fast and convenient. You can sit in the quiet of you home, no people, no lines, just click, download and read. Once the book has been purchased you can even read it on any other device on that same account. My personal favorite convenient feature is preordering. Choose the book you want to buy, choose which device you want it to download onto, and come midnight the book will automatically download at the midnight release date. Bookmarking is essential to reading. I could of just put the book down for a few minutes and forgot where I was at because I was too into the reading itself. But with ebook you can close the book and when you return to the book it'll automatically open up to that same spot. If it doesn't you could just click or tap the bookmark icon and boom. You don't have to buy a bookmark separately or place it in the book and hope it doesn't fall out during travels its digital. I also dont know everything, there I admit to it, so, everynow and then I see a word I don't know. What do I do? I'm certainly not going to pick up my hardcover Merriam-Webster 100th anniversary limited golden special edition (totally made that up) and look up the definition. “Ain't nobody got time fo dat!” But with ebooks you have instant look up, some times the book already knows that you don't know and has the definiton ready for you.

In conclusion to paperbooks vs. ebooks. I still prefer paperbooks. Something about going to the store picking up that book, buying it, and taking it home, holding it, and adding it to my bookshelf appealls more to me than the convenience of an ebook

When reading Into the Wild by Jon Krakauer as it documents the journey Chris McCandless took and watching the movie The Grizzly Man as it documents Timothy Treadwell’s journey to document bears I was struck by how similar the two men, McCandless and Treadwell, really were. Yes, there were a great many differences between the two but also by how similar they were. While both men showed how they hated modern society and felt a strong desire to live outside of our society, they both also had very different takes on Alaskan wilderness and how to survive in their journeys. Just as both loved the outdoors, however, the two had very different practices concerning it. Treadwell would return to society every summer to work and prepare for his next outing and Treadwell refused to take a gun with him. In contrast, McCandless spent all of his time outdoors and away from human society unless he absolutely needed to and carried a gun with him into the wilderness.…

Reading has gone from print to becoming digital in today’s world and affects not only the way we read but also the way we communicate with one another, since we are conscience about technology altering the way we read. Remember what a book looks like? Let me show you that by leaving our prints behind, the way we read today has scaled to a digital level, leaving standard books and letters obsolete. Even though you can’t furnish a room with just a single device, like you are able with books, or you can’t necessarily fling your e-reader across the room because you risk breaking it. Despite Jabr (April, 2013) stating "Before 1992 most studies concluded that people read slower, less accurately and…

College students face many challenges; they have to make sure their classwork is done well, and completed in a timely fashion. Many have to find a way to balance school and a career as well as making sure that family obligations and scholastic responsibilities are both met. With all that to deal with the last thing most students want to worry about is carrying around books. Thankfully modern technology has addressed this issue with the E-Reader. An E-Reader will allow people to carry all of the books in their school library as well as personal books and magazines, right in the palm of their hands. There are many types of E-Readers, but two companies lead the field. The first is Amazon with the Kindle. The second is Barnes and Noble with the Nook. Deciding between a Kindle and a Nook can be difficult, but factors like price, features, and specifications can help a person pick which would be best for them.…

It’s hard to do as you wish and you must be a good drawer or the pictures will not appear to be animated. Also, you have to draw the same picture continuously with only minor adjustments and this is a disadvantage because it takes a lot of time, concentration and patience to make a good flipbook. Finally, if one page is wrong than the book will not look as professional as some parts will be out of place and it will not run as smooth.…

In the article, Hari talks about how for years the paper book is constantly being challenged. Hari mentions the novel "Super Sad True Story" by Gary Steynghart. The novel goes on to worry that a higher technology will cause paperback books to be forgotten. Like Hari, most people are guilty of that huge collection of books they own and at one point ponder the thought - Am I ever going to read these? Hari argues that people feel e-books are simply more convenient and take up zero space. He states that the sales for the paper book decreased by nine per cent in 2011. It was the result of consumers having higher interest toward e-books and other technologies.…
