Exceptional customer service is vital to any type of business. However, this is especially important in an environment where people especially sick people are at your door sick and are as are feeling bad and are looking for help from our hospital or doctor’s office. As Hillestad & Berkowitz, (2004), states “Marketing is about listening carefully to customers, understanding their needs, and providing the best possible service to meet those needs before implementing tactics” (pg. 9). It is very important to have the hospital’s mission statement, the vision on what the goals are for the hospital, and the values to reveal what is expected from our employees. The hospital expects our employees to care for the patients and more than the customers’ needs, we need to makes sure the family is respected and is looked after as well. If the hospital has a good human resource department, the training would be first and foremost customer first in their customer-oriented component and this would included in the strategic plan for a 250-bed hospital. By emphasizing the importance of the hospital’s mission of having a patient front and centered and respecting their customs traditions and culture.…

The Institute of Medicine (IOM) defines medical errors as “the failure of a planned action to be completed as intended or the use of a wrong plan to achieve an aim.” Medical errors do not all result in harm or injury. Medical errors that cause injury or harm are sometimes called preventable adverse events – that is the injury is thought to be due to a medical intervention, not an underlying patient condition. Errors resulting in serious injury or death are considered “sentinel events” by the Joint Commission. These signal need for immediate response and analysis to identify all factors contributing to the error and reporting to the appropriate individuals and organizations to implement or guide system improvements.…

With the likes of legisture and other means it is hard to fire or get rid of staff. Infection control is one of the things we as nurses and nursing students have a commitment to take every possible step to ensure. Infection control includes all things that are avoidable and by practicing by the ANA Code of Ethics and QSEN Competencies we can ensure that patients get best possible care they deserve. It is important that all people involved in the care of patients in a health-care facility take all the necessary steps and precautions to avoid spreading germs that can cause infections. It is essential that the policies put in place to control these problems are followed by every member of the collaborative team. According to the QSEN Competencies every person involved in the care of a patient should “Function competently within own scope of practice as a member of the health care team”. (QSEN, 2010) This includes nurses, doctors, social workers, janitorial services and dietary aids, to name a few. Each person working in a health-care facility plays an important particular role in the care of the patients. It is necessary to explore this issue because patient safety is a priority. It is important that everyone abide by the facility policies to decrease risk of transmission of infectious organism to patients, increase awareness to risk of transmission of MRSA and keep the patients and healthcare workers safe.…
Kimberly, I enjoyed reading your post and I concur, an employer should assess the employee’s initial competence. Additionally, increasing competencies via education and making staff accountable has contributed to positive results for both the patients and employers (Esper & Walker, 2014). Throughout my research I learned that the employer benefits the most by educating and standardizing care processes as a best practice. Standardizing care process prevents delays and variations of care that may lead to poor outcomes (Cherry & Jacobs, 2014). In conclusion, the safety of patients and the reduction in poor outcomes for staff and employers can be traced to initial education and competency. Therefore, taking the time and effort to properly train…
